I would have been impressed if they had just revoked the NFA. This is just a ridiculous spending bill. It's a bucket of shite with a few good vegetables in it so they call it soup. They are still feeding us shite.

machine guns and destructive devices are still part of it. it wasn't touched for obvious reasons.
if we had asked, we wouldn't have gotten the stuff we did get.

Well, my perception is that now the door is open for Democrats to use the same method to hike the tax way up when they get back in power. In the long run, this will be a disaster.

i expect GOA and their counterparts will be submitting the lawsuit either tomorrow or the day it's officially enacted, which from what i'm hearing, is January 1, 2026.
if you watch this video, you'll learn that Rep. Andrew Clyde was a holdout last night until he talked to President Trump. it's implied that there were some promises made if he switched his vote to "yes".
my guess? Trump's DOJ will plead "no contest" or whatever. how awesome would that be?

If the NFA were gutted with no registry, I'd bet there would be 30-50M NFA items in the next 5 yrs.
I'd say about 90% of the casual shooters I know won't go through the registration process. But 90% of those ppl would probably buy multiple cans if they could just buy it like a 4473. Most of them for their kids hunting rifles and their own.

Honestly this might be the best thing that could’ve happened. You now have legal precedent to get them removed from the NFA.
Hopefully this pushes forward.

Have you been living under a rock? Various states are already attempting to tax ammo and other items at high rates.

Anyone know the answer to this stupid question?
Will atf still recognize ar pistols and rifles? Can I just buy a short upper for my rifle lower?

This bill doesn't change the AR pistol loophole.

No, these are the things that make me know that Dems will use this to frick us in the future.

you have to register the lower.

Again, regardless of the Repubs using this now, this was always and will always be on the table for Dems. Hell, Newsome in Cali is pushing for gun manufacturers to be liable for shootings. I will never understand the "one side used this method, now the other side will" like both teams didn't know this already existed.

So suppressors about to skyrocket in price? Or will every manufacturer just raise the price $200.
Posted on 7/4/25 at 7:40 pm to Jack Ruby
I don’t know. It’d be nice if you have a local dealer that has them in the shelf and in stock already. If you buy it now, they may hold it for you until 1/1/2026.

you will still have to jump through all the registration hoops but no longer have to pay $200 for a tax stamp to buy a silencer
That’s what I don’t get. The registration is not a registration of a firearm - that would be “illegal”. It’s a registration that you paid the $200 tax. They send you a receipt and that is the tax stamp. You won’t go to prison for an unregistered or homemade suppressor - you go to prison for 10 years for failing to pay the government $200.
The ATF has argued that a suppressor isn’t even a firearm. I’d like to think that when the law goes into effect, you’d be able to buy suppressors like you’d buy ammo, or a new pair of shoes or a loaf of bread.

That’s the argument GOA will make when they bring forward the lawsuit next year.
