I have to admit it.... I'm having trouble keeping up with the political intrigue.

What's the final status of the BBB that is headed to the House pertaining to supressors - is it in or out???

$0 tax on suppressors and short barreled firearms/AOWs

registration is still going to be required

Ugh. That’s not a victory. I don’t mind the $200 tax going away but that’s not what we care about.

i guess there's still a chance in the House that the registration can still be removed, but the Senate would have to agree to it amongst other non-NFA amendments.

Possible a dumb question, but can the House send the BBB back to the Senate with additions? For some reason I thought that at this point in the process the House could only accept or reject Senate changes, not rewrite them.

from what i gathered on the Political Board, there will be a committee formed of both House Reps. and Senators that will go by line by line and then voted on one last time.

but the House will probably vote on it as is and send it to Trump.

quote:

Senate Action
After a measure passes in the House, it goes to the Senate for consideration. A bill must pass both bodies in the same form before it can be presented to the President for signature into law.

Resolving Differences
If the Senate changes the language of the measure, it must return to the House for concurrence or additional changes. This back-and-forth negotiation may occur on the House floor, with the House accepting or rejecting Senate amendments or complete Senate text. Often a conference committee will be appointed with both House and Senate members. This group will resolve the differences in committee and report the identical measure back to both bodies for a vote. Conference committees also issue reports outlining the final version of the bill.

The house is pissed and angry. I wonder if Johnson will have the votes.

this is going to get interesting.

essentially, what Clyde is doing is "redefining" the term "firearm" as it's written in the NFA. he's stripping suppressors, short barreled firearms, and any other weapons from the definition.

I really wish they would repeal the Hughes amendment but it’s never going to happen. I would be fine with NFA registration on MG as long as they were transferable to an individual. A FA M16 was $1000 before the Hughes amendment. My dad’s neighbor has a FA Tommy gun he bought in 84 for $800. I can only dream.

The "Clyde Amendment" has been introduced. as far as i know, it hasn't been accepted nor denied. House Reps. are on their way back from vacation to D.C. to vote on some variation of the bill.

if any amendments are added, there's going to be a committee formed by both chambers, i think, and eventually both chambers will be voting on the same bill. they have today and tomorrow to agree on the same bill. the door isn't shut, yet, but it's closing fast now.

eta: $0 tax is still in the bill for suppressors and short barreled firearms.
