Did not know if anyone had seen this:
KBB
GM Issues Stop Sale, Recall for 877,000 Trucks, SUVs
From '21-'24 models
I had read that they said to stop driving them but I can't find that now.

The agency began a probe into complaints that bearing rods in the 6.2-liter V8 could fail, leading to engine seizure. GM decided to voluntarily recall the engines rather than wait for the investigation results.
quote:
Dealerships inspect the engines and, depending on what technicians find, may repair the rods or replace the engine entirely. They’ll also give every engine a higher-viscosity oil and a new oil filter and fill cap, even if they find nothing wrong.

Yeah, "Blondie's" Yukon has a 6.2L, 38k miles. I'm not really sure I want them "inspecting" my piston rods for micro cracks, then putting it all back together. And, do I really want another new 6.2L with the same issues??

Ive owned 3 Chevy 1500 Silverado's through the years. I'll never buy another GM made truck again. Their engines and transmissions are junk. If I had to buy another 1/2 ton today, not sure what it would be. It wont be a turbo 6 cyl posing as an 8 cyl.

I’ve had good luck with my 2020 5.3 but it’s got 200k on it and the front pinion seal on the rear end just gave out. First major problem. I am however afraid to buy another GM product right now.

I’ve got a 2016 Silverado 5.3. Had the transmission rebuilt around 105,000 miles. New injectors around 115,000 miles. Other than that (facetiously), I haven’t had any problems. The dashboard isn’t cracked! It’s paid for, and the next Chevy I buy will be a square body.
The salesman I went through tried to buy the truck back in 2021 for what I paid for it. That’s crazy to think. I bought it when it had been on the lot for a little over a year and it had 7 miles on the odometer. I got around $18,000 off sticker price.

You know it's bad when they do this.

The 5.7L 350 was and still is a monster!!!
My '09 Silverado w/5.3 has been good... once the lifters and cam was replaced. Yep, less than 1yr in and the dealership told me the reason I had a lifter coming apart was because I have the "variable valve timing" turned off. What a crock of shite.

agree- my 2024 Silverado transmission went out. Waited 4 months for another transmission valve body on backorder.

We just bought a Yukon XL for the wife a few months ago. It's got the 5.3L though. Fingers crossed.

Prices going up baws. Gotta hike the price to cover this loss.

The wives can just drive reliable minivans. They don’t need 400hp V8s to drive kids to practice.

Man, talk about a blow to all of those "thinner is better, that's what the manufacturer specs" guys.
Yeah, no shite 0w20 is insufficient at protecting.
0....sure. 20... No.
0w40. If they made a cheap 0w50 I'd run that instead.

Everything should just use 5w40. Its basically miracle juice as far as lube oil is concerned.

How can I buy one of these affected vehicles? I've been wanting to do an LS or LT swap.
