Have hunted there the last 4 years and haven’t killed. 3 years bow and this year was my first rifle hunt. They enacted a slot limit this year so you cannot shoot anything between 135-160” unless it’s identified on the hit list which there were about 12 deer on the hit list when I was there. In addition there are a dozen or so deer on the no shoot list that you can’t shoot regardless (not sure exact # so don’t quote me)

Place is truly phenomal and any outdoorsman will appreciate and should experience. With the slot enacted this year I think it will be a few years before the kill opportunity will return as majority of deer harvested the last years are 140-150” which now fall in the slot.

It will be difficult to get a rifle spot especially around the rut as 4-5 people have all the spots and renew year after year. Post rut bow hunt is typically more successful. Early bow spots are usually available but your solely dependent on weather. If hot your gonna have a tough time, my hunt last year I only saw two deer whole trip. Get a cool snap though and they usually load up.

Solid info. Sounds like I need to wait another couple years before I commit to that.

Incorrect, there are several other places that have equal if not better deer herds in the area, they are just not avalable to the public at any price.

Not trying to talk you out of it, just want you to know what to expect. The bow regulations are actually more laxed, I believe that the slot stops at 140 or 145” so will have more opportunity at deer if bow hunting vs rifle just have to get closer to em.

Word of advise if you bow hunt a land bring your climber and have a 25’ gear rope throw it away and get a 50’ if going there, then boys like to get up there!

All virgin timber that hasn’t been logged so they have plenty. As other guy said they plant 100’s of oak and fruit trees each year. Mr Bancroft truly committed to manage strictly for wildlife.

Educate me please. For roughly the same money why wouldn’t you go to Kansas, Ohio, Kentucky, etc. You would see more deer and have a better chance at a true “deer of a lifetime”

Not sure if it still holds true but it used to be on Thursdays if you got there early you could buzz Boelte at his gate and ask permission to hunt for a day. Although he may of gotten tired of all the requests and now delegates that task to a yardman or someone.

My company buys 8 hunts there every year for the past 5 years.
I have not yet been able to go.
It was my turn last year and I had a death in the family.

The majority of the bucks my coworkers kill are damn fine bucks with a few ugly racks thrown in there.

eh, you can drive 2 hours north, sleep in 5 star lodge and be served 3 square meals with a nap in between hunts.
It's extremely comfortable compared to some of the ways I've heard these Kansas hunts go where they drop you off in the morning and pick you up in the evening after they finish working on the farm.

Just a whole different way of going about the same thing.

I'd say that the majority of people that end up getting to hunt there are on a corporate retreat or are being entertained as a client.

Go to south Texas and kill a 160 for equal or less money.

How much does it cost when you shoot a deer you're not on the list?

You're with a guide telling you what to shoot or not.
If they make a mistake it's on them, if you make a mistake I'm sure there is a fee.

Personal preference, but I just don't like the way those deer look.

Should have seen the bases of the one I drew on. I keep reliving it, but I really don't think there was anything I could have done.

Yep,

Shame that not many deer like this are being shot.
