The portion of the river North of St. Louis to the Iowa border in MO is arguably sportsman’s paradise. Ducks and enormous deer everywhere.

If it weren’t for LA’s phenomenal fishing then that part of the nation is sportsman’s paradise

No need to differentiate, no out of state licenses to LA residents.
Problem solved.

Look at who owns the high fence operations and that's all you need to understand on why they're allowed to exist.

The deer are owned by the state, not the property owner.

I could argue that, but what I’m talking about is the assertion the state is over hunted/poached and therefore even more regs are needed. I don’t see a deer shortage. maybe they’re talking about public land.

So if 30k is fenced and according to the internet LA has 2,140,000 forested acres. That’s 1.14% of your forest are high fence. Now I’m a broke idiot but what’s the problem the high fence cause again?

The “Sportsman’s Paradise” ain’t such a paradise anymore. Be honest.

Shouldn't be allowed but 1 deer in MS, ARK or TX either. They will do their damned best to ruin the herd everywhere they go!

And no, your oil fields aren't a reason to kill spikes.

Your buddies to the north in Arkansas feel your pain. Our deer aren't managed well either. No trophy restrictions in CWD zones anymore and liberal harvest limits are hammering the population. all this for 1 (ONE) positive in my zone.... never had a second one to back it up and rumor was it was not even killed in Arkansas.
Very frustrating
AND if you don't live in central or north Ark no one cares about your fishing areas either. And our lakes have more trophy potential than the rest of the state if just managed correctly.
Very frustrating..... but by golly we don't have the high fence issue. Our high and mighty AGFC knows WAY more about managing our land than our landowners do..... just ask them... they will tell you.

They just mad monster deer that are managed for age structure are behind game fences.

Newsflash, any deer that is allowed to reach 4.5yo and has good nutrition will be a giant by most standards. But most hunters in Louisiana want to shoot just bucks.

Never mind the buck to doe ratio being so out of whack that we don’t really see any sort of rutting activity like you do in the Midwest or Texas where the deer population has more balance.

WMA’s in the state could use some selective timber management, creating better wildlife habitat. Specifically the WMA’s consisting of primarily river bottoms.

But this topic just seems like someone is just bitter.

There is a 36k high fence in just one piece alone.

I don’t think you need “trophy” restrictions. Just need limits that would promote a balanced deer herd.

Or, “I hunt to feed my family” *spends 3k a year on hunting for 150 lbs of deer meat.
