Couldn't find anything about this in a search. Does anyone here have any experience with a snorkel mask that covers the whole face? Going snorkeling next month and don't want to shave my moustache.

My wife bought one for our last snorkel vacation....she liked it a lot better than a traditional snorkel. She bought it from a dive shop. She thought it was better than the stuff from Academy or Costco.

Sure, I bought these last year for a trip, and I didn't have any issues. There are lots of similar ones available. I also bought some neoprene socks and would suggest those as well.

I understand that they fog up very badly. Never tried one myself.

A little Vaseline on your mustache and place the mask right under your nose first will get the hairs all down and you're done. Longer the hairs better it works and after a while you will have it down pat then won't need vaseline at all.

You don’t have to shave. I go scuba diving with full beard often.

Yep, grease it or just clear your mask more often.

Mustache won’t affect you too much. Also, you can trim/shave a small strip just below your nose. It’s hardly noticeable and will grow right back.

Guess I'll try the grease. Although I've never tried a full face I would think it would fog up. I was hoping it was the answer. Is this grease purchased at a dive shop?

They are implicated in a few deaths. There is more dead space allowing CO2 buildup, the cheap knock offs especially. They can be hard to remove particularly if panicked (which CO2 will cause...Or water in the mask)

Read up before you decide. I use and would recommend a normal mask and would not risk it.

More comfortable to wear for sure, but they do fog up easily.

I know people who have tried them and said they're harder to dive with bc they hold more air than a regular mask.

I know the cheap crappy one I got my 5 year old for like $30 for snorkeling, you can't clear the water. It doesn't fit me and it has a mechanism for preventing water intrusion, but we all know how well those work. So if you get water in it you can't blow it out.

Made a trip to Hawaii last summer, wife and I both got the full face mask. No problems, was easy to breath and neither had fogging problems. Probably snorkeled ten different areas while there with various water conditions.

There are some stories and lawsuits about deaths due to CO2 buildup in them.

OK, y'all have convinced me. Definitely going with the conventional mask and grease.

Thanks to all.
