I was just working on some paperwork in my office and watched a guy pulling two girls ~10 years old on a tube in front of the house. The boat driver was slinging the girls back and forth on the Diversion and threw both out of the tube in front of the house. Lots of traffic today and choppy waters is not the place for what he was doing and made me think of this thread. I hope they all make it home safe. More than likely his actions are due to ignorance, but still…

I saw a dude pulling a couple young girls on a tube on a particularly narrow and windy stretch of blind river this morning. Not much boat traffic at the time, but still, not a good idea

Did I not say "separate incidents" . Let me try again. Two accidents, same day, same body of water, not related. Both are tradgedies

From The Advocate's article, it sounds like it was his own propeller. Tragic.
quote:

Grayson came back up and attempted to climb into his boat from the back, Einck said.

As Grayson climbed up, the boat’s propeller, which was spinning, hit him, Einck said.

quote:

Authorities are not sure if the propeller was running when Grayson dove for his anchor or if something accidentally turned it on, Einck said.

It says in that article that another boat came by too close and clipped the rope, causing the anchor to fall in the water.

Then it says he dove down, but the water was only 3-5 feet deep.

And for the prop to be spinning, the motor would pretty much have to be on and in gear. This article has a lot that doesn't make sense.

High-profile case here in Atlanta where a drunk guy collided with a pontoon boat and killed two kids on Lanier.

Think they're about to start cracking down hard here in Metro Atlanta.

I can almost gaurentee that they were at the sandbar. It normally does not have this many boats but it has a lot...

If the weather kicked up and the water got rough quick, boats could have been moving all over. With the anchor rope cut his boat would have started moving and someone probably started the motor to keep it from moving to much while he was in the water...

Wow! So the boat was in gear. People should take boating safety courses.

Yeah, I think they said it was the sandbar, but how do you clip an anchor rope so that the anchor falls into the water?

And I still don't understand how someone can drive a boat without taking a test and having a license. Not talking about the guy who died, but someone driving so close that they take out an anchor rope. I see people all the time driving on the wrong side of the boat lane.

That Amite area is a very dangerous place on a Summer weekend please be careful out there. I didn't realize 25-30 people a year lose their lives boating every summer there...
