I had a 94 half ton with a v6 that would get 24-25 mpg on the highway and could pull a bass boat. Not easily by any stretch, but it wasn't miserable.

That's over 20 year old technology. We should be far ahead of that by now. We can get the fuel economy with the small ecoboost but refuse to compromise on power. The people who are buying trucks expect everything to get up and go while pulling at max capacity these days.

Ranger video. Not a Ford fan, but I like the look. Worried about bed length.

Aint it grand, I can tow with ease today on a gooseneck what would have required a semi and lowboy 20 years ago.

My personal truck with all the creature comforts laughs at 120 HP tractors while towing uphill at 75 mph with air and cruise.

Not sure what your knickers are in a knot about, go buy a prius, it seems to be what you really want, we wont laugh.

I think a 2.3 evo is plenty for any ranger owner. Ain't nobody paying 42k for a diesel ranger.

A 1/2 ton Ford ?
Then you must be talking about the 300 cubic inch INLINE Six. Big difference from a V6.
The 4.9L I-6 was a helluva engine - a lot of torque and very reliable.

I really like it. And I usually hate trucks when they first come out.

Kinda curious how much a Lariat ranger will cost. Lol

It's ugly as hell anyway plus you can't be a real baw in a small truck!

Y'all realize the majority of these trucks are bought for commercial use or bought by guys that can't afford a bigger truck right? They are great trucks for HS kids for example. Tons of commercial use by pest companies, pool companies, and all kinds of other contractors that just need the small trucks.

If they sold a 4x4 for cheap it would be a great option as a hunting truck for anyone that didn't need to pull a lot.

This is said about every new truck and is almost never true.

Where do y'all come up with this? The size itself is appealing.

There are small truck trims that are twice as expensive as some full size trims.

Not getting your logic here, other than the cost of the steel itself why should a smaller vehicle be less expensive?

I get the same trim levels being a bit cheaper but I would never expect a loaded small truck to cost less than a stripped full size.

The vast majority of componets are the exact same, power window motors, A/C systems, leather and touch screens dont care what size the truck is, they cost the same.

Sure, but it's also price point. You can get a 2 door small truck new for low to mid teens, it's a combination of both. If you don't need the bigger truck to get the job done there's no reason to pay the extra for it.

Point I was making is that you can spend a whole lot more on a compact truck than the cheapest half ton. They're not for people who "can't afford a half ton."

I agree fully with your point and would never assume someone bought a 1/4 ton over a 1/2 ton on price point alone.

I honestly would buy a much smaller truck if i did not use the one I had for it's intended purpose, I also LMFAO at all the 3/4 ton superduty powerstrokes 4X4's that have never had a trailer ball installed or been off road. Some demented people just have to have a rough riding fuel guzzler to make them feel better about themselves.

However I do love the fact that folks 2 year old status symbols hit the market with no appreciable wear and tear other than hauling junior to soccer practice.

My across the street neighbor does that, but he's a really big guy. Like, bigfoot big, so that may be the issue.
