Just gives it more personality...

Seriously?
Bout frickin time.
Now we just need to get the EPA to get their heads out of their asses. These companies could be building 45mpg pickups rated to pull 12k pounds if the EPA would let them.

My first truck was a Dodge. I have a soft spot for Rams. I would seriously consider a diesel 3/4 Ram for my next truck.

Me too
But 100% only because I can get one with a manual transmission.

They always build in cheaper failure points on purpose(you should know this) . That is why things like u-joints are weaker than the yoke on the rear end and the output shaft on the tranny/xfer case. People beef up u-joints and you see them twisting driveshafts apart. Transmission stuff is purposely built weaker than motor stuff, or at least it was. The dash board is a weak point
I have been told that a big problem with HD Dodge transmissions is that the motors make lots of torque off of the line. Same source also told me that none of the transmissions on the market would last long without being set up correctly.
All of the new diesel trucks have some sort of Jake brake. Some work well, some don't . I remember seeing a comparison between Ford and GM going up and down an 8% grade with 30k on the back
1/2t diesels shouldve been here years ago, but thanks to CARB and their butt buddy, the EPA, it is too expensive to develop them. As a matter of fact, most cars offered overseas have a diesel option. There are maybe 10 here that have them

Yea I know all that. Beef it up an make some expensive stuff shred for this kinda shite though.
I wanna see mass engine destruction. Run one of these big badass diesels until it slings parts. I've never hear of it happening.

[link=(news.pickuptrucks.com/2010/11/chevy-vs-ford-in-heavy-duty-rumble-in-the-rockies.html)]F350 vs Chevy 3500[/link]I am still thinking that they would have to run them really hard with a heavy load to see any real damage. Dyno runs and 1/4 mi racing typically messes up transmissions. Hard, heavy load pulling will jack up EGTs or make too much boost and eventually burn up the motors
Couldn't happen nowadays because all of the motors would de-tune themselves. Need a programmer to shut that off

Yea I'm talking about sustained runs with high load at high RPM with shitty oil. Glowing manifolds, popping radiator caps, and launching rods.
I wanna see one eat itself. I'd love to know what it would take.

Are you married to that midget lady who rides her yellow midget bike around campus? I think I remember her getting out of some type of van once

Bump...because now they're doing the same thing with a Duramax.

One of the things that stands out....the majestic Allison transmission has already been replaced with an aftermarket tranny, the factory Allison slipped at 568hp, the Ford tranny didn't slip until 884hp.

bet it is the tranny that goes first. SMH
I was responding to original post and damn it if I was not correct.
now the duramax with the allison ...I'm gonna say engine failure, likely a rod

I WANT ENGINE DESTRUCTION DAMNIT.
Hook that fricker up to 30k lbs, put it to the floor in 3rd gear and don't let up until something explodes.

I want to see Duramax pieces on the floor, oil, coolant, chunks of metal. I want it all.
Posted on 4/25/13 at 3:37 pm to YOURADHERE
I want all 3 of them blown apart.
Take the engine out the truck, rig it up on a dyno thingy, take the safeties off, and blow those bastards up.
Really the way I'd like to see them blown up is to hook it to 30k and let a bunch of kids drive them like they stole them no matter how long it takes.
Run junky oil in them too. In a dust bowl.
I WANT PARTS TO FLY

I'm just the man for the job
It's pretty well known that the Allison can barely hold more than stock hp and torque

I wasn't aware of that but then again I don't really pay attention to much other than the Powerstrokes. I turned this crap off, but I just saw where they were up over 1000hp.
