5 Shootings in One Night
I'm sure most of the folks here know they need to carry -- and stay out of some parts of BR. Make sure your spouse/SO knows this as well.
The BRAVE initiative is clearly not yielding results -- seems like the OK Corral in some parts of town.

It seems like most of the crime is concentrated in specific areas. As sad as it is to say, people need to use judgement in going to certain areas of BR.

You spelled "stay south of Florida blvd" wrong.

Pretty sure BRAVE has essentially been gutted. The most effective part of the program was their GIS division at LSU. I think that has been discontinued because it was spun as unfairly targeting certain demographics in the parish.

Watch the news, see the suspects, write down description of each on paper. After a week, stay away from people that look like the suspects of previous crimes.

Is there a threat to the battle group?

The only thing that unfairly targets certain demographics in the parish is High-Pernt firearms.

Well, the people that promote this nonsense are some of the most dishonest and intellectually lazy people on the planet. They all say they want to solve the problem but they don't want anyone to talk about or address the problem.
Crime - especially violent crime - is happening in predominantly black areas of the city. That information is relayed to the GIS program and based on those statistics, the police concentrate resources in those areas. Now, according to the opponents, that sheds a bad light on the black community and, since the cops are putting more resources in the predominantly black areas, it is inherently racist. So, by using that absurd logic, the program was either done away with or throttled back to the point where it's essentially useless. The unfortunate reality is that all this feel-good repeal of the program will do is cause more black bodies to go cold.

From Tenfoe: ..... and stay out of ALL OF of BR
Not as bad (yet) as N.O., but heading that way.

Didn't BR have more murders in July and August than NOLA did?

When I was up there, Hillar was looking into this program that has been tried elsewhere that basically let's the bad guys self-regulate. Major crimes were not to be tolerated, and major crimes in nicer parts of town would bring down the big players in the bad parts. The guys in charge would turn in the kids doing the crimes. The heavy hitters would essentially rule over and punish the lower guys in exchange for relaxed police pressure.
Idk how it went, because I haven't spoken to him in a while. Maybe the gangs weren't established enough.

Sounds like Hillar watched too much of The Wire. That sounds suspiciously like hamsterdam.

This thread is almost as dumb as the Facebook posts I’ve seen about NFL players kneeling

It has been done in a bunch of major cities. I was taking a criminology class at the time, and we had a guest speaker who developed the plan. Seemed legit to me once you come to terms with the reality of the situation

Bruh, make sure you are packing in October. I've seen some undesirables on the corner of Highland and South Stadium where you hang out on Saturdays.
