I agree. Any freshwater trout is mushy and off tasting to me.

try oven frying them. I coat the fillets with italian bread crumbs, drizzle with butter, and then bake for 12 minutes at 500. They are great as is or on a sandwich. pretty good cold the next day as well.

I do think most of my dislike from duck is not having it cooked properly. I didn’t duck hunt growing up so I’ve only had it secondhand.

My grandpa would get pissed if someone threw a goggle fillet into the bream/crappie fillet bowl. Said he hated eating good fish only to bite into piece goggleye meat. Those fish were to be kept separate for feeding to people who didn't know better.

Backstrap. It’s the most overrated cut of meat in the history of meat.

This isn't helping you.

Redfish. I don’t understand why people love them so much. They’re not the best table fare or the worst. But in the marsh, they’re not even a top 3 fish to eat imo.

I agree with alligator not being really good either.

And yet, it's the best part of a deer.

I strongly disagree with the sheepshead statement. They’re far better than redfish.

Squirrel They are probably the most fun thing in the world to hunt, but they're a pain to clean, and don't add much but a bunch of bones to whatever you're cooking.

I can agree with this. And I actually don’t mind cleaning squirrels when I hit them right. If done correctly, I can skin them easily and quickly. If though I mess up and shoot them in the wrong spot or mess up my first cut one squirrel can take me longer to clean than I can usually skin about 4.

The real issue is the amount of meat per bone. They make a tasty gravy, but damn it’s a pot full of tiny bones that I have to be very careful of.

Lobster. I love the thrill of catching them and eat it but it's never as good as you think it's going to be

Bass/Sacalait. I'll eat it but specks/reds are so much better

Wild Rabbit. Love the hunt but farm rabbit is 100x better

Whitetail deer. I know people that act like they will not survive the year unless they have some in the freezer. Im to the point that I only keep backstrap to fry because my kids like it. Everything else ends up ground up.

I used to think the same thing but this year I killed a mess on a camping trip. I seasoned them up with a little meat magic and wrapped them in a few layers of foil with butter. I buried under the fire for about 2 hours and they came out tender but not falling apart. You could pick the pieces up and eat them like chicken wings. some of the best eating I've had

Salmon. I can't even stand the smell of it. Granted, I've probably never had GOOD salmon, but still. I've also had some nasty shite in Asian countries after they told me "this is the best seafood in the world"

Anyone saying speckled trout is fishy must be eating some that's been frozen for a loooong time or not fileting well and leaving skin on it. I don't understand that one at all.

Same.

I keep the backstrap and preacher cuts and ground everything else up

Yall must be mishandling your whitetail deer

I use a ton of grind but there's some excellent cuts that aren't along the spine
