My parents (Shreveport area) have a fishing boat, outboard motor, and trailer that they bought new in 1996. They haven't put it in the water in 5 years, and it's been parked under a shed. I think he runs the motor now and then. As far as I know, it is in working condition.

They have realized that at their age the boat is never going to be used again. None of the kids want it.

They asked me to see if I could determine a reasonable price to ask for boat, motor, & trailer.

I know nothing about boats so came here for help. Here is all the info they gave me:

1996 Aluma-Weld/Xpress, silver in color.
Make BH, Body BT, 17 ft., 75 HP Yamaha motor, no oil injector pump, storage on side, 3 seats.

Any thoughts on a reasonable price to ask? Thanks.

Good starting point

You need more details and condition will be key (have pics?). I’d say around $2K if in really good condition. Boats don’t hold their value for long, especially if they sit-up for long periods. At least it was covered and run regularly.

my step dad recently sold his 16' 1990 duracraft that sounds similar to this boat. it had a 1996 75 hp yamaha, trolling motor, and a painted trailer. I believe he got 3K for it.

I checked on the OT (because they know all) and the average estimate was 350.

Is the injector pump missing?

Just asked Pops... he says if not, $2500 would be a good price if it hasn’t been in the water in 5 years. That’s probably as good as u can hope for.....

About as funny as the "It could have been me" statements.

Standard bull shite/OT type answer: $350.

Real OB answer: about $3K, probably get $2.5K

I don't have any pics or info beyond what I posted. And my 70+ parents could fly to the moon sooner than they could text me pics.

Next time I go visit, I will get pics and more details.

Thanks for the replies. They definitely help.

Does it look something like this? This is my 1997 xpress with 75 hp Yamaha. I think mines in pretty good shape and I think it's worth about $3500. But it gets run regularly and everything works as it should.

That looks about right from what I recall, but I haven't really looked at theirs in a while.

That is a pretty clean looking boat. I was going to buy a new boat since I am moving back to North LA for work and really want to start fishing and taking my daughter tubing but holy shite, I think I may end up having to cough up a kidney to buy one since I refuse to finance. I think I would be all over this kind of boat for $3,500.

Do you think that 75 Yami would pull a tuber and carry 2 adults without issues? Just curious.

The 75 is plenty motor on this boat. I've never pulled a tube with it, but I've loaded it down with 4 guys and enough beer/ice/food/fishing gear for a weekend at the camp and the yami barely even noticed the load.

Post pics

2k if it’s got problems but not bad physical condition (seats, carpet, trailer, hull) Or 3-4K if the motor runs great and it looks great

But if you really wanna know then check NADA

Like everyone else said, post pics. I've been looking for the right aluminum boat for months, and may be interested.

Sounds like you got about 3 potential buyers at about $3,500 . Post pics and profit.

Sounds reasonable, but really depends on condition and accessories.

If you got the engine services (carbs cleaned out, linked and synced, rebuilt if needed) or a fuel injection service (not sure if that on is or not) and the rest of the boat was in good condition I bet you could get 3000 easy.

That is a long time for an outboard to sit and not run.
