F150 guys: I think Bennys oil change is full of crap

2012 Ecoboost with 83k miles. Need a quick oil job. Normally always use synthetic and wait till light comes on truck saying to chnage oil. In this case, the mileage times up right with sticker. Last oil was motor craft synthetic.
Anyway, ask for Mobil 1 and they show me dipstic after and I glance at briefly. Thought it looked kind of dark but thought my eyes deceived me.
I roll off into vacuum area and check for myself. Sure enough looks brown.
I ask the guy to compare new oil and old and sure enough it doesn't look even close.
They offer to drain and fill again. Manager comes out and says basically that it's an issue with my engine type. Saying that the injection of ecoboosts come on "top vs the sides". Saying he went to ExxonMobil school as they taught him that. Says even if I crank it up for 2 seconds that it will be brown.
I say, ok well after you top it off let's look at it again before and after I crank. Both times no chnage. Dip stick doesn't look like brand new oil but much much better.
I think Benny's is full of shite. Not sure what they did the first time but it was almost like they didn't drain it all first time. But their sheet says they put in 7.9 quarts

You'll never get all of the old oil out and it's all going to turn brown almost immediately.

I've never seen anyone track oil volume by the liter.

Sorry. Quarts.
They didn't list units of measure in sheet. I inserted my own. Fortunately they are pretty close

Reason #15 why you should change your own oil

It will be darker but oil due for a change won't look like oil that has been run for a few minutes. Injectors have nothing to do with that topic of discussion...?
Gotta watch yourself with those quick oil change places.

Changed mine this weekend. Took less than 20 minutes.

Well it is direct injected meaning it likely has oil-driven injectors and an oil lubricated fuel pump and all that means more old oil left in the system after draining.

Maybe a $1.00
and I change my own oil

I don't think I've ever changed my own oil for less than a 5 minute place charges.

Your 6 cyl takes 8 quarts?
Posted on 8/14/17 at 1:49 pm to upgrayedd
After some research, it should take less. 6 quarts. Maybe they flushed some? I don't know

I change my own oil not because of time or money but because I don't trust a $9/hr worker to change the lifeblood of my truck.
Recently worked for an older man who just had to pay 20k to have his Mercedes engine replaced because the quick change didn't replace or tighten the oil plug.
I don't want those fools anywhere near my shite.

were you pulling a camper on I10E in Mississippi on Friday? Saw an F150 with a tulane and UVA sticker and figured it was you
Posted on 8/14/17 at 1:51 pm to TulaneUVA
Sounds like they overcharged you for oil. I know some places will charge you for an extra disposal fee for anything over 6 quarts. Better look closely and ask them wtf they're charging you for.

By chance were you in the LP last thursday driving a 1992 lifted gmc sierra 1500 with a confederate sticker on the back? Pretty sure it was you.

Why would you take a Mercedes to a quick change? That's just ignorant.
They give you a courtesy car while they change it at the dealership.

You end up paying more because you have much shorter change intervals.
I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance with a Mobil or Wix filter. Generally I won't change it until the computer tells me, which is usually around 10k miles.

The 5.0L version has an 8 quarter oil pan so they may have just pulled the information from a database. I would certainly contest that since you have the V6 instead.
