It seems like Chevy/GMC does better for light trucks and Ford is the name of HD trucks

I would agree with this for the part about HD applications. Ford doesn't interchange many parts between SD and F150. GM interchanges many parts between HD and 1500. Ford builds em to work more than drive, why some folks say the ride and interior feel are better in the GM.

It all depends on what you prioritize the highest I suppose. For me its reliability and nothing more reliable in the 1500 class than the 5.3 and nothing more liable in the HD class than the 6.6 with an allison. Imo

Moving farm/hunting equipment. Things like that.

The 6.0 vortec has been a workhorse for a very long time. Certainly not the most powerful thing out there but they are bulletproof and very cheap to repair compared to everything else in an HD truck. It's easily the most reliable engine available IMO. Maybe the Ford 7.3 gas will take that title being a pushrod motor but I doubt it.

Unless you're dragging around a bulldozer every day, todays HD gas offerings will handle it easily.

Coming out in 2020 with a 10 speed behind it.

I'd love to have one with the 6R140 that the diesels use. Not so crazy about the 10 speed since it's a barely beefed up half ton transmission. Either way wish I would have held out on mine. Mine is a 6R100 which is a beefed up mustang trans. I'm sure itll blow up around 150k miles.

It does get up to 16mpg on the highway with 4.30 gears though, incredible numbers for a 3/4 ton gas burner 4x4 IMO.

Either way I'm glad to see a big bore gasser showing back up. Last one we had was the 8.1 vortec which was an indestructible workhorse. Great for when you dont want to spend an assload on the diesel but still need good longevity under load. Bet the 7.3 makes a great marine engine as well.

Damn, so went over to the dark side and went Ford? Why did you go away from the 6.0?

Don't you drive like a grandma though? Lemme drive it, and I'll get those highway numbers down to 10

My highway mpg has started randomly getting up to 14 with no change in my driving style. It was 13 for like 65k

Price mostly. I couldnt get a similarly equipped Chevrolet within 7k of what I paid for the Ford. The STX package on a work truck is a great value. I got power everything with rubber floors, 4.30 gears with locker, backup camera, esof 4x4 for what a stripped down Chevy was going to cost me. The 6.2 hasnt been around as long as the 6.0 but it has a good record with the fleet guys I know. Its strong as hell

Mine also has a snow plow package. If you dont plan to actually put a snow plow or a very heavy bumper avoid it. This thing rides like a log truck. It's horrible.

Huh, I always thoughts Fords cost more. They dont give shite on rebates for the work models though. They wanted like 7k less than what a LTZ cost, they are crazy.

Have you put it in mud much? We had one as a work truck and the damn sensors on the wheels gave me hell. I guess they didnt think about gumbo cane field mud when designing it.

Idk if they've fixed it, but my old F250 always had problems with the vacuum hubs. Got me stuck a few times

Maybe in the higher trims, I barely priced those. I know they get ridiculous past the xlt trim. Mine is a single cab and compared to the Chevy single cab work trucks I got a much better deal. I could get a Chevy cheaper but with crank windows and shite.

I havent been in any deep mud with it but I have used it a lot in normal mud. The tires arent that great and I think it's a good bit heavier than my old truck. It's a big bitch and doesnt fit anywhere. It doesnt fit under my carport. I'm pretty sure I could put 37s on it like it sits.

I’d get either of the three then have a side by side to hunt in.

Don’t plan to bring in that heavy bastard into deep river mud
