Got a bid from a fella who is shrink wrapping roofs on camps around GI to seal them from further water damage.
We used plastic shrink wrap to wrap and seal pallets at my old job. Pallet went inside a big plastic bag which was heated causing the bag to contract and form a water tight barrier around the pallet.

Have any of you camp owners heard of this or seen this service offered? Trying to establish the validity of it on a roof.

I've seen them and they should be fine temporarily if the plastic is thick enough and it's installed properly. Did he mention how many mills thick it is?

I would think the wrap would shrink before it could be applied in the middle of August in SE Louisiana.

Negative. Is there a minimum thickness we should inquire about?. Don’t want to get fleeced by some disaster bandit post hurricane.

Saw a lot of it after Michael. Seems legit enough compared to tarps as a temporary solution.

I'm not positive, I've only dealt with vapor barriers and abatement enclosures. I would think 15 is plenty and 10 is probably enough. I'd mainly be concerned with an area getting too much heat and thinning. I would do some research to get an idea of standard practices.

I'm just a dumb country boy but IMHO if you shrink wrap something you seal any previous moisture in. JMHO

I floated this by the group. The aim is to keep more water from getting in. Don’t think the impetus is on existing moisture.

I’ve seen it done on large commercial buildings under construction in Seattle. It appeared to work pretty well.

It's probably a heat shrink wrap. We use this stuff in shipping. The good stuff is 10 mils thick and will keep weather and wind out if the integrity is not compromised.

I have seen it look perfect after sitting on a truck traveling across the country. And I have seen it get a small hole in it and the wind will just tear it apart.
