My wife has no issues with me going, she just worries when I go alone. So as long as I have my Dad or a buddy going she's cool.

That and keep the HoneyDO list managable.

I am very fortunate. No one in her family hunted or fished, yet she has accepted the fact I love to hunt and be in the outdoors. She realizes it makes me happy. She also realizes it is a great way for me to spend time with the kids.

Mine never gripes about it. It's much easier when you are with someone that has a dad and/or pow pow that hunts all the time. This year I hunted at least 2 days a week from Oct 1st until the week after Christmas. If I don't have the freezer full by January she gets a little pissy though.

I'm female and I would bitch when he didn't go enough. My ex would take me hunting and fishing all the time. It was awesome. But I also understood and respected that he needed / wanted boys' weekends at the camp.

I guess it works that I grew up hunting / fishing with my dad and he taught me how to clean fish, clean the boat and deal with our boat shed.

My brother's wife was complaining to mine and my mother about how much he hunted and they both said "deal with it cause it isn't going to change"

She is not my wife, but will be in the near future.... But, this was my first full hunting season with her and she was all for it. Never had a girl be like this with me.... the last one would say "what am i going to do all weekend?" Ummm i don't know hang out with your friends?? I was really apprehensive at first. Ended up hunting 5 weekends and the last 4 were in a row. I think all she wants in return is to be invited when we go on the water when it gets warm, even if she doesnt come. Her dad used to take her fishing when she was younger and likes it. I just call in the evening before i get to hammered and do a few things for her and its all good.

As long as I'm considerate and don't get ridiculous with it my wife doesn't bitch.

I make sure my shite around the house is done and understand that I have to spend time with her and take her out now and then.

I have the yearly "Farewell Dinner" before every hunting season. She picks the place and that gives me my pass for the season. I also make sure before I leave that all my shite is done as well.

I have been with mine over 9 years and she has yet to complain. She likes her weekend time to do her thing.

I was very upfront about who I was and what I was going to do in regards to hunting. My wife has known since day one thats who I am. Of course hunting does not take precedence over my family but if I have my ducks in a row I'm going to the woods and she knows not to try and get in the way. Of course she has things she loves to do and I'm respectful of those as well.

talk to me when you're married and have a couple kids and all the money he spends on hunting/fishing comes out of your joint account

it's a little different than telling some college boyfriend he can have a "boys weekend"

My parents have been married for 25 years. She tells my dad to take a guys weekends all the time. All of the funding for his excursions come from their joint account. Whether its for the boat, camp, new gear, whatever. I guess it's just how I grew up. I understand how it is.
