my .02 cents

- shoot every one you see, especially the sows

- due to the warm temps (above 80 degrees) , the hog should be processed ASAP and meat put on ice, otherwise it will spoil and go bad

- use a very sharp knife because the coarse hog hair will dull a blade in no time. A box cutter (with carpet blade) works well since replacement razor blades are cheap

- during this time of the year, I'd cut the skin along the back, flap it over , and take only the back-straps. Coyotes and buzzards can have the rest

during the cooler winter months, you can clean / process hog same way as a deer and keep all the meat you want . A 60# - 120# pig is ideal for eating

Me personally I've only ate one wild pig that was good and it was a 20lb shoat that the dogs maimed. Pork from a grocery store or meat market is a completely different taste than wild. In other words I leave them where I find them if I don't know anybody that wants them.

This is how I feel about them. I actually appreciate the gamier part of it and all but the smelliest boars have been pretty damn solid after I'm done with it. You're not going to just grill the chops and get a store bought taste but, like I mentioned before, stews and smothered preparations have always been a crowd pleaser for me.

Keep the tenderlions, make boudin with the rest unless it's over 200 lb bore in that case roll him off in the crick

Commercial pigs are so lean and flavorless. I have to imagine a wild pig would taste better.

Just my personal experience again but you better hope a wild hog is lean when cooking or eating because the fat tastes like a hog smells. Lol! My hatred of them could very well be distorting the taste also though. Leaving my cooking skills out of it...

Best way is to catch them and put the small ones in a fence at home. Feed them for a few months to get them fat and then butcher

We kill them all year long, clean them like a deer and ice them down. Never had a problem with any size male or female.

We cook them on the pit, crock pot or just smother em down with seasonings on the stove and the meat is awesome.

Same here. We kill them all year and clean them the same way with the only difference being we clean them faster during the hot months and immediately put the meat on ice. If I kill multiple hogs, it's hot and I'm the only one cleaning them, I'll quarter them out and get the back straps. That's it.

This is what we do also. I've eaten pigs from 40 to 180 lbs. and they were all good.

1. Shoot everyone of those motherfrickers you can. Any size. Just shoot them.

Yes yes yes

2. Go to the grocery store and buy some pork. It's much better.

only do this if you are a terrible cook like, tilco. Wild pig is delicious.

Not sure what the guys are doing that don't like the taste, but if you eat venison wild pig is great. If it's hot I like to quarter the meat out and put it in a cooler with ice for a day or three. I've never had bad meat like this but I've never killed a big one either.

The smaller bits are great for sausage and I like to crockpot or smoke the bigger pieces of meat.

They all taste good and can't believe how many people are to lazy to clean what they shoot. I understand they are a nuisance but you can drop them off to the poor folks near by and they will take them all. No need to feed the coyotes.

Small one's you trap, raise in a pen and they are the best pork you will ever eat.

I grill the straps and crock pot the quarters. Never had one come out bad.

I have ate the sows up to 300 with no problem and we don't seem to get boars over 100 but they taste fine up to that point.
