Avoyelles Parish. Two teal and one widgeon. Blinds close by did much better. Apparently, the ducks in the area are concentrated, and not in the mood to spread out. Our field has food, so hoping for better times ahead.

Went to sherburne section 120 for the first time. We got there a little later than I wanted (6:10am) and everyone was already shooting when we were walking up. Waited around until 8am and left after never seeing the first set of ducks to call… tomorrow I might try and bring the boat out there tomorrow now that I have a better idea of the land

Pointe Coupee parish:
Pothole in hayfield
Seen 2 dozen wood ducks and a flock of 8 coots. Killed 2 wood ducks and shot into coot flock, none fell. Always tomorrow.

Hunted a slough on public land. Saw quite a few wood ducks, but never got a shot opportunity.

Had one set of guys to my left about 100 yards away that were in the middle of the damn slough with lights on 15 minutes before shooting light, and a guy to my left that started shooting 10 minutes before shooting light.

Gotta love public land.

Plenty of light to shoot by at 5:50 baw.

Had 1 woodie at Sherburne. Didn’t see anything but woodies.

18 at our place off 71. Tons of teal with greys and spoons mixed. Saw a good bit of birds but couldn’t get much to commit. Lots of pass shooting

One Gray south of 15 where I was but there were better bags in other blinds. I didn’t take any passing shots early when there were chances.

And I'll do it all again tomorrow.

I don't know if that makes me dumb, brave, stubborn, persistent, or all of the above...

If you bringing a boat to section 120, you better get there a day earlier to get in line.

Went again this morning. Had one set of guys move in 20 minutes before shooting light to setup 60-70 yards from me. Scared every duck in the hole away. Then talked loud as hell the entire time. Twice had BBs rain down on me (harmlessly, but still not cool).

That's just my luck sometimes.

Yeah I would have called those guys out. No way I’m hunting all morning like that

There was at least 2 of them, and only one of me. All of them sounded very oilfield baw like...I thought about it, but I'm smart enough to know that wasn't going to end well...

Besides, after about 30 minutes of seeing no ducks, I left. They had pretty much scared all of them off anyway.

Funniest thing was listening to them debate who shot what once...sounded like Jase and Si from duck dynasty.

"I shot twice and hit both."

"Well I shot and hit one."

"Well, we may have both hit that one, but I definitely shot twice and hit both."

I used to hunt with some high school buddies of mine at Fesynthal, they would insists we go out at 3-4 am and stake out our spot.

never failed we would sit out there all night and then right at daylight 2-3 groups of hunters would move in on us.

I told them they could have it. I haven't duck hunted in 10+ years due to crowds, the Duck Dynasty wanna be crowd ruined it for me

I’ve been hunting public land for almost 20 years now. If the birds don’t show up you can always count on some entertainment from the yahoos out there.

I’ve seen guys argue over who shot the sole duck, a “green wing teal” when asked by green jeans who shot was turned out to be a wood duck during teal season.

I’ve seen guys float into a pond I was hunting and try ground swatting my decoys from 100+ yards away.

The problem I have been having lately is how do I get motivated to go duck hunting when the likelihood of me killing two teal, a blackjack, and a snipe are extremely high?

It’s not that I don’t enjoy hunting but after going to Oklahoma the last 5 years and having some stellar 9 man limit hunts it just doesn’t seem as fun to me anymore to put in the work for a couple of teal. Does anybody else feel this way?
