I've been invited to an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for a few boys that were in my CubScout Pack years ago.

Wanting to get some suggestions for a gift for these young men. Not sure I want to go with something from the scout shop with Eagle Scout plastered on it, but something they would actually use. A nice knife is the first thing that comes to mind, but I'm asking the OB for other ideas.

Any Eagles on here with suggestions on things you may have received at your CoH that actually got some use?

a nice frame for their certificate and medal (mine is hanging in my office and I get quite a few compliments on it)

A scout box, I gave one as a gift from the scout store, the young man put all his scouting memorabilia in it, ordered it from the scout store

A good pocket knife or flashlight is always handy, but he will already have plenty at this point in the game

The book "don't forget to make your bed" written by a Navy seal with quite a few inspirational passages, very easy reading , should be able to read in an hour or 2

and I was told a few months ago that I was an Eagle scout but now I am just a Bald Eagle

Tigerpaw Thank you! I love the book idea: Make Your Bed.

I have read excerpts from the Admiral's book and saw the commencement speech he did that was going around a couple years ago.

Problem is - a commemorative knife (particularly with an engraving) will end up being more decorative than practical in the long run.

I do like knives for this, though, and a fixed blade knife with "Eagle Scout" - and year, maybe, plus the name, might be a different twist on things. Scouts are probably already loaded down with knives as others have said.

As far as books, maybe a facsimile of the Baden Powell 1908 "Scouting for Boys", if you can get enough. With an inscription for the occasion, a great conversation piece and something for a lifetime.

Whats your budget?

Everyone will probably get him a knife, FWIW. so keep that in mind if others will be purchasing gifts.

Maybe something outdoor related. New back pack, sleeping bag, etc... something more for backpacking outside of the scout world.

kind of what I was thinking, others will probably hit the scout shop and get the few things there, others get a knife or flashlight.

Ruger makes a 10/22 Boy Scout model. Would make a incredible gift. As an Eagle Scout myself it would have been a gift I would have cherished. I revived many knives and they still sit to this day in a box with my scouting things. If it’s a bit out your budget see if anybody else going would go in with you on the gift

I wish I would have stayed in Scouts to make Eagle. I made it to life then our troop fell apart and I didn't join another troop.

Not knocking the knife idea but I'm sure that's the first thing that comes to mind and others may have the same idea. I'd consider a nice pair of binoculars. That's something that would come in handy throughout his lifetime.

I would recommend one of the pocket size AAA flashlights or a space pen. It's something they can throw in a backpack or in the center console of a car.

Talk to your senator and see if you can get a flag that was flown at the capitol building. When i got mine in 1996 it was a common (from what i understand) request. Still have that flag folded and the letter written by the senator

Or a Henry Golden Boy Eagle Scout Commerative
Golden Boy Eagle Scout Tribute Edition

Nvm, reread OP and see there are multiple Eagle Scouts whom you knew from their Cub Scout troup (a Golden Boy for each will get expensive). In this case, the frame for the Eagle certificate and medal sounds like the best long term gift. In 10 to 20 years the framed certificate hanging in their office or man cave will be cherished long after all the other gifts are lost or forgotten.

I got coffee mugs and a paper weight that I still have some 25 years later. If there'd been a knife I'd probably still have it too.

I like the book idea and there are plenty of classics that would make good ones, leather bound if possible but definitely with an inscription.

I honestly don't display too much of my stuff anymore. Leads to too many conversations about the direction that Scouting has gone in.
