How did y’all baws do this weekend? I didn’t hunt at all and didn’t hear a single good report this weekend from the Venice area.

Not this weekend but my pops and a friend hunted Wednesday and Thursday right after the front. 7 teal on wed and 7 mixed bag on thurs. Rode around all over east side of pass a loutre wma and counted maybe 400-500 ducks.

Hunting down here just ain’t what it used to be and it amazes me how baws continue to support Larry Reynolds and his band of clowns that work for DU even though they refuse to acknowledge that the migration patterns have changed and Louisiana only gets a fraction of the birds we used to get...

As a “younger” guy who can’t go back 30 years as a reference, it’s hard for me to call you an out right liar. However, most articles that I’ve read aren’t conclusive that hunting in Louisiana is significantly worse.

Here’s my 2 cents. If you’re old you’re gonna remember the best days as absolutely amazing hunts, the so/so days are now good days, those bad days were just another hunt and you have plain forgot about the shitty days. Everything is better after it ages a bit. Also you’re probably old so you aren’t willing to do what some of the younger guys are willing to do to kill ducks. I don’t disagree that killing ducks here in Louisiana if you don’t have a handed down private lease is pretty hard. As a straight public land hunter I have done well this year, and the last few years. However, I can guarantee I’m putting in WAY more effort than 99% of hunters. 20 mile boat ride, tent camping, pirogue in a few hundred yards or wade if it’s sandy enough... making trips before the season to actually scout. Heading back out at dusk to see where birds are piling into.

When I read stuff like this or my phone blows up mid season with “man where you at we ain’t killing shite”. I’m forced to think, you don’t want em bad enough.

Weren’t you the one on here 3 weeks ago talking about how Venice was loaded with ducks, and people saying it isn’t need to check out Venice??

I believe you also claimed to have found enough ducks to limit out all season in that thread as well.

Also, this has got to be one of the stupidest comments I have seen on here in a while. Did you even read the flyover survey? It absolutely confirmed we are getting a fraction of the ducks we historically see. Please show me where Larry has claimed any different? I believe the Tards that come on here parroting that bullshite are looking for a scape goat because they can not figure out how to adapt on their own to these changing conditions.

Legit haven’t watched a single episode. Not a fan of reality shows. Don’t own a mud motor. Never painted my face or my dogs.

All that said it’s a damn slow morning so far. I miss the old days!

I had birds up until last Thursday on my land baw. They done moved on by now. My point is back in the glory days it was unheard of for Venice to not have any birds at any particular time... There has definitely been a change in the migration

It's a joke that our season starts so early. They have studies that show that the birds are migrating 12 to 28 days later on average than they did 20 years ago but we continue to open in early November. Of course it's because Larry Reynolds and the rest of LDWF are in the pockets of the big politicians who hunt private leases in Cameron Parish and want the early opener. They don't have any water in late January and don't want to hunt then. Larry himself has a lease in Cameron which makes his "recommendations" on setting the seasons very suspect. Anyone who doesn't see this is blind, deaf, stupid, or all 3. Our coastal zone opens earlier than all of Arkansas and parts of Missouri which is insane!

Killed 8 over 2 days on a North Louisiana WMA. Birds were flying alright, but shooting wasn't alright.

we limited both days in tensas... but it was a struggle to do so. If we would have had inexperienced hunters or poor shots would not have fared well.....

new water, high water affecting us for sure.. our water was 2 feet above normal

did you go to the public meetings or look at the data from the hunter surveys... both showed overwhelming support for early coastal season - they gave the people what they wanted.

That data was collected and produced by Reynolds and his cronies. Every Duck Hunter I personally know has been advocating for a later season that always closes on January 31st for the last 30 years, but these "surveys" always say otherwise.

Again there are birds in Cameron Parish in early November, always has been and that is where Larry and the majority of LDWF and the Legislature hunt. That small group of people control our Hunting Seasons and Regulations, not the majority of the population.

I completely agree. When you struggle to shoot ducks in Venice or on the wax in early December, but can pay to travel to Missouri to smoke them something is wrong. The most dogs have seen the last few seasons have been in February but we are picking up blinds.

the data matched what people said at the meetings.... I was at 3 of the meetings...over a two year period
