I have a chance to get on one of three leases... Fields near erwinville, delicroix, or lake Bourne..

Can anyone tell me if erwinville gets good duck numbers being so close to the Mississippi

I don't know. But they do have a race track and dog thieves.

it depends. Very hit and miss with regard to birds but convenient to BR. I've hunted out there a good bit. If it is a lease that someone just got out of, there might be a reason. I'd look into it.

I live in Erwinville and don't hear much about duck hunting unless its on the backside of the levee.

seems Delacroix or LB would be better, but you have to consider logistics.

gotta be, but I seldom hear or see any activity in those fields during duck season. Nothing against Harlan, but I'd be skeptical of that area, unless it was the only option. I live not far from there and all I ever see is woodys flying around. Geese occasionally as well, but they're at 30,000' heading south. As a duck lease goes its probably a better crawfish pond

I've lived in Erwinville all my life, nothing but woodies around here and that's mostly only if we have a wet winter. I would definitely go with Delacroix

bean fields near south farm and casinos near those crawfish ponds. Which do the ducks prefer?

well for one, it aint near as developed at South Farm as in Erwinville. Most of Erwinville is developed for farming or housing. Second, and specific to the "duck leases" on 190, I think they're are better options to be had in Delacroix or LB

Those are rice fields that they just redone this year. I'm sure they will have a few woodies and a few teal, but not much else.

Is the Lake Bourgne lease the lease that kinda of the north side of the lake. Like if you were headed south out of the chef, it would be on your right?

Edit: I haven't seen the OP post a reply, but if that's the lease you have chance to get on (Lake Bourgne is essentially the southern border, and Chef Pass is essentially the eastern borer) those guys kill a good many ducks, and probably 90% of those guys are REALLY COOL guys, and the other 10% are non dicks.

It is, however, equipment intensive. All the guys have mud boats, other than maybe one or two that take a regular boat up to the lease, and pirogue into a perm/standing blind.

The other thing cool about that lease (if it's the same one I'm talking about), is you can catch PLENTY of redfish right on the lease, and good trout fishing - not great - but good - can be found in places pretty close to the chef/right off the chef.

I've shot some teal and geese at erwinville ponds. There's not alot of numbers but I can get in a morning hunt and be at my desk by 9:00. It's close, easy. It is what it is but you're not going to shoot large numbers or impress clients you'll probably get skunked a bunch.
