The most hardcore duck hunter I know will not eat duck. Period. The guy is an animal and probably hunts 5 days a week and shoots a ton of birds.

I don't think this is a rare thing. I love to duck hunt but don't get to do it often. I also like to cook and eat ducks, but even I wouldn't want to eat it three times a week.

Anybody else know anyone that hunts like a fool but doesn't like to eat what they kill?

I will admit that i have only eaten a small percentage of the ducks i have killed. I would give most away when i was duck hunting regularly.

I definitely love duck hunting more than duck eating, but I do cook what I kill

if someone is interested in ducks that i know, and i'm having some decent hunts, i'll be happy to give some away, just because my appetite for duck will go a lot farther than my wifes

I do that with squirrels. But I rarely hunt them anymore. Not that I hate eating them or anything, I'm just not crazy about them and I'll just give them to someone else instead.

I don't eat duck THAT often, but when I do, they are usually made into duck bites for appetizers or mixed in with some gumbo.

I love cooking ducks, couldnt eat them every day but love to cook them. It helps alot when you know how to really prepare them, I am okay but some of my coonass buddies really know to to cook them bastards.

He does. Being Chalmation he can just dump uncleaned birds at various houses.

On another note, there is a certain fisherman I know that kills an obscene amount of trout. Catches 3 limits a week many weeks. While fresh fish is the greatest gift one can give, I don't know enough people to give all of that away.

As you can see, it's not an anomaly.

He needs to save some specs for the rest of us.

Life just isn't fair.

We do for the most part, but we end up giving just a little away every year to people who don't hunt.

All the guys that I hunt with are hardcore hunters and we eat all our birds. Regardless of what we kill. I know I will probably get some shite for this but I hate whenever I see somebody breasting out a pintail or grey duck. We pluck all our good birds. Pot Roasted ducks (especially teal) are the ticket. Its not hard hard to cook a duck it just takes a little time

We usually just breast them because its quick and easy, but will pluck them with the "duck naked" every once in a while.

ETA: So you're saying you hate me??

My friend kills a shite load of pheasants in South Dakota and he didn't eat them, until he brought them to me and I showed the Yankee how to make a proper gravy.
