I use to pick them up by pinning the head... but damn you are nuts free handling those. Your just a few notches below that crazy guy that was letting cobras and mambas bite him on purpose lol
The smaller ones are the ones that make me nervous. Last time I picked up a pigmy to move it I felt a fang rub on my thumbnail and I haven't handled one since.

My guy , if you look back from your earlier post till now , you keep letting them rattlers get closer and closer .
One factor is just having more experience in reading the snake’s body language since I only started free-handling last year. But mostly I just ran across some very docile snakes this trip - especially the coral and the black-tails. Though the coral came up and got about an inch away from my hand, and my buddy swears its mouth was open. I didn’t believe him though.

the only snake not being handled is the on-venomous. No thrill anymore, doesnt do it for you?

I'm going hiking in Arizona in a month. I am scared half to death of getting bitten by a rattlesnake. oof.

I hiked the Grand Canyon in June 2021. We spent 5 days and snakes were definitely on my mind. We saw only one slithering into a crack in some rocks.
It had black and white rings and may have been a type of King Snake.

What’s your general process to find them? It looks like you drive a lot of roads looking for them at night? Obviously there are certain areas they prefer? I’d assume around water as that’s where their prey will be? Walk river beds and what not?

Most venomous snake in the Western hemisphere - Tiger rattlesnake…
So lets pick him up and play with him!
Love the pictures, keep them coming!

Yeah most of the desert stuff in West Texas and Arizona is nocturnal - too hot during the day so they’re more active at night. The easiest way to find them is by driving the roads that pass through their habitat, though we’ll do a little hiking for some too.
Those Arizona mountain roads are rough - swerve to miss a snake and you’re plunging to your death off the mountainside. The roads scare me more than the rattlesnakes do.

Well, in your case:
No arms or legs, and head attached you better stand back.
Head removed, you’re cool dude.

Yeah that guy in Tennessee died after being bitten by a rattlesnake.
Glad that wasn’t you.
Picking up venomous snakes is just going to be a big Nope for me dawg.
Will pick up nonvenomous snakes all the time.

Bruh...
How do you not get bit? With my luck I'd get bit just walking by.
