Old twins span on the slidell side of the Lake P draws a crowd some days. May have a small fee to get on, not sure.

If you want to try to fish this weekend, could head down the road near Yscloskey bridge, if it gets cold enough there will be good fishing there. Will also be a good crowd and likely green jeans

Ive seen folks fishing on the southshore of Lake P, parking along I-10 rite before the start of the northbound twin span, on a nice day the water looks nice there.

City park as mentioned above is a good suggestion if bass is your preferred target

I hear of some fish being caught off Bonabel pier at night under the lights every now and then. Conditions have to be right and there needs to be some salinity.

Drive down to Myrtle Grove Marina and fish off the dock. The fish come in this time of year. Fish the bottom slowly. Colder days are best.

Here's an excellent article on dock fishing there that gives all the details: https://www.thejump.net/fishingarticles/myrtle-grove-bank-fishing.htm

I just got home from trying my luck in the Mississippi River and flopped. I tried 2 areas that I've caught nice catfish in the past and struck out in both.

I first tried in the Arabi area off Friscoville Ave. and got one nice bite and when I went to set the hook on the fish my damn reel broke clean off where it attaches to the rod.

It was an Abu Garcia Black Max 60 with the carbon fiber body on a Shakespear Ugly Stick rod and it snapped clean off the rod. Needless to say I couldn't land the fish since there was no getting a good hold on the reel with one hand and cranking in a fish with the other, so I cut the line and put that rod on the side.

After another half hour with no bites I picked up and headed to the Industrial Canal and tried my luck there and didn't even get a bite.

Last time I fished the Industrial Canal I caught four 20+ lb. cats, 2 flathead and 2 blues, but it wasn't happening today.

City Park will get better as the weather warms up. Also check out Joe Brown Park in NOE. The state recently stocked the lagoons with rainbow trout and some catfish. The sole purpose is for people to catch the rainbows and keep them (they will die off as water warms up). Enjoy and give a report.

Are you sure that's legal? A camp owner down there told me that everyone bank fishing the area in your photo is trespassing and they've actually been enforcing it the last few years

Unless things have changed, you pay $10 at the bait shop and you are good.

It Is already getting hit hard daily. I’ve seen an increase in pressure in the past couple of weeks as bass are moving to beds.

What’s the likelihood of running in to trouble out here? I’ve thought about bringing the fly rod out there, but I’m not really big on the idea of fishing a park in the middle of Nola East.

Check out M Hood Fishing on youtube. Dude fishes all over Nola from the bank and let's you know where he's at. He's also a former or current crackhead.

Sloopy, I agree; not real crazy about spending the day in NOE! I am a native but moved to Northshore in 92. I am tempted to try but might opt to make the run to Zemarray Park (also stocked)in Hammond for hopefully a more pleasant fishing experience!

Fished Joe B a few times in my younger days early 80s.... we got "asked to donate our fish and fishing gear" to some local tribesman..... The guy that was with me, still talks about what happened when I told the chieftan here take mine and gave him my rod/reel..... broke a couple of things on him, not my rod, his buddies took off when they saw what happened to him(the others were a little younger than the chieftan).... haven't been back to Joe B since....except for official business.

the new pier behind SP is solid.... city park is very solid especially for bream and rios... bass fishing can be outstanding there.

bayou barriere along side navy base is really good too...

also... there is one more honey hole....it is one of the best kept secrets around...and I ain't spilling it...
