Didn't think we would agree on all of the things listed.

I would like to see one buck of choice and the other two be 8 point or better, 4 on one side or 16" spread.

My favorite is when someone shoots a deer or hog and thinks its perfectly fine to cross the property line and look for it without our permission while people are still on stand.
shite come to our camp and ask, we'll even give you a hand.

"Getting down" is code for what happens after you take Judy out to dinner.

I cross property lines like they aren't even there when looking for deer

Thats why I'm not "Getting down", I'm not taking Mrs. Upgrade out to dinner?

It only really bothers us when we're still on stand and they're looking 300 yards away.
For instance, a guy shot a deer at 7:55 am, goes and looks at 8:20. He just couldn't grasp why we were ready to kick his arse.

That would SUCK
You can't apply that to everywhere in the state. If the entire state was "trophy managed" year round, you'd never hear a gun go off in some places regardless of how long you did it for.

That's my issue with it. There's so many areas in this state where people would never kill with restrictions.

That makes the most sense. First one's a freebie. After that you've got to pay attention.
I still don't think it would work in LA. Too many brown it's down guys out there to compete with that have no problem being an outlaw with deer. It's damn near a badge of honor in this state. And part of that is simply because it's hard to deer hunt a lot of the terrain in this state. You don't get to shop for deer like in Texas. Feeders in LA are just places where you can get some night pics as a general rule. In Texas you can call deer with the sound of a feeder going off.
When I was a kid growing up in North LA I MIGHT see a deer a year. And there were a lot of years where there just weren't any. It's a hell of a lot better up here now but you've still got people that came up in that time who aren't going to wait when they see one. It's dead meat. Going to be really hard to get them to stop doing that.

I'd imagine fishing in today's wind was not much fun

Well of coarse but just about the whole northern half of the state could be under this rule. If you look at the bucks that are being killed in places that let them grow they are just as big as you would kill up north. We have the genetics to produce great bucks they just never get a chance.
Hell I would vote to kill one buck a year if it was a 150"+ deer. Our club is 6 pt or better and we see a lot of bucks in this class but the problem is they are killed the next year when they are 15" 8 pts.

To me these are good bucks. To the next guy they are scrappers and still some dream of seeing such a deer. This conversation is a healthy one but you will never get everyone to agree on what a "trophy" is.
These 2 were killed 5 days apart and were the first bucks I have killed in years.

Our also. What's the initials of the club?
quote:Hooked onto one fish that was massive. The way it acted was either a huge bass or choupique. First bite pulled by brushog off, second time I waited for my line moving across the water and set..broke my line. Other than that my trolling motor was dead within 2 hours fighting the wind. Water was aqua colored and pretty clear.
