I think the OP caught the shite he did because he made it obvious that he wanted it because it "looked cool" and was "tactical" after clearly stating he has never owned a gun. I dont think anyone is questioning his right to do anything let alone own an "assault rifle". It just doesnt look good for us (responsible gun owners) when you open the newspaper and read "ASSAULT RIFLE" across the front page because someone with zero experience shot his neighbor while trying to figure out how to strip an AR when never even owning a BB gun. I know that is kinda worst case scenario but the chance of something like that happening is significantly higher when your dealing with someone with no experience that just wanted the gun because it looked cool and he saw it on a video game.

I can't believe there are people that can't get this point! Geez people calm down. No one said he shouldn't buy a gun. It's just the way the OP started off this thread and his later post showed that he just wanted to buy it because it looked cool.

I want you to go prove this point right now. I bet you find multiple articles about people being shot with shotguns and hunting rifles and none about an AR.
Why would field stripping an AR cause it to fire? And why wouldnt this happen with any other weapon?

what about a 10/22 with a cool AR style conversion look to it? It's an AR, no its a 10\22. It's safe but complicated and deadly deep thoughts

Prove what point, that having ASSAULT WEAPON plastered across the newspaper is bad for the people that like to legally own them? Ok...

I never said field stripping it would cause it to fire but with no experience that person may forget to do some of the basic things we do before stripping a gun, like make sure it isnt loaded.

IMO the best way to learn anything is to get out there and do it yourself. If the guy is serious about owning one it isn't like there is no information on the function of these rifles. Spend an hour or so on AR15.com and he will have everything he needs to know especially if he doesn't intend to build his own.

I sure as hell dont need you to tell me what an AR-15 is. I can go check the 2 in the safe if I needed a reminder. You dont even know what point you are trying to argue man. If you were raised in a non-gun owning house and never even stepped foot into a gun shop i could see how you could ask the permit question. I would think for a total gun noob the process could seem a little intimidating.
