I get the point about no experience and tacticool, I just don't consider an AR-15 to be "an open-wheel Indy car" and other firearms to be s Ford Focus. They are all potentially dangerous in the wrong hands and each has its unique risks and benefits.

The fact that an AR may be used with a 30 round mag doesn't mean much as far as accidental discharge because it's semi-automatic, unless the guy was a real clutz and caught the trigger 30 times.

agreed, but I still dont think an AR is the platform for a no-experience beginner that wants one cause he saw it on call of duty or something.

Agreed again, the magazine doesnt mean squat. However, everytime someone does something stupid with one of these type guns it little by little stacks the chips against the responsible gun owners that enjoy owning and shooting them.

Can I get a complete lower from them?

Sure can. Essential Arms

Scroll towards the bottom. They have several options and assembly is either $10 or $15 depending on the stock.

It's a fine line between gun responsibility and gun advocacy sometimes. Handguns can be pretty dangerous because their small size and portability make an accidental discharge easier, although they are not as powerful. Shotguns are pretty safe, except that getting shot accidentally with buckshot or a slug would likely be fatal. Hunting rifles are powerful, but limited to one round per shot (as opposed to shotguns). Just seems like if we're talking about loack fo experience, each type of gun has its ways that it could be more dangerous than another in an accidental discharge scenario.

I don't have any stats but I would think accidental discharge would be the highest with hand guns.

I guess the biggest factor with an AR would be a much higher likelihood of a "check this cool fricker out!" type of accident , although you'd still have a good chance of that with a handgun and, somewhat less likely, a hunting rifle or shotgun.

I've noted that in the past. The stats usually group all rifles together, but if the all handgun numbers are higher than the all rifles numbers, then it would make the disparity even higher for only "ARs".

You're right...

Bottom line is I think the OP would have not recieved most of the responses like this had he started his post more along the lines of "I've never owned a gun but am interested. Where is a good place to start?" Hell he could have even said he liked AR's but left the tacticool shite out and he would have been better off.

lol..yea me too. the text below pretty much cemented that notion.

Yes I want a AR for the tactical look. I don't see a problem with that. In my opinion it is the same reason why people mod up their guns to make them look cool and also for the slight improvements. I know how to handle a gun safely. My parents don't own guns so I never learned how to fire a weapon or owned my own gun

He was answered, but some of his responses started the whole debate because he said he had never owned a rifle before, only handguns, and he basically said he only wants an AR because they look cool.
