It’s pretty simple for me. A company that takes a stance to restrict the rights of American citizens will not get my business.

Chic fila funnels millions to pro life Evangelicals and openly campaigns against gay marriage.

Do you boycott them too? They want to restrict American citizens as well

It is almost like people have different beliefs and can choose who they want to do business with.

My personal boycott of Dick’s is working quite well from the standpoint that none of my money is going towards an anti-gun company. Will they go out of business? Hopefully. But even if they don’t I am quite happy knowing they aren’t getting anything from me.

I agree. OTOH, I recognize that while Dick's may continue to be profitable w/o selling guns, it's NOT because "those crazy sky screaming gun owners can't shut us down", but because Dick's seems to be evolving into a different business. They're moving away from guns, fishing and outdoor "guy" activities. I think the Field and Stream stores were started to handle those product lines while Dick's moved more into exercise equipment, workout clothes, team/individual sport clothing etc. That's why they chose to discontinue selling guns and started advocating for more gun control The buyer they're now looking for now is not the 40 year old man looking for a new camo outfit and 9mm ammo; they're now looking for the 40 year old soccer mom who wants a $50 pair of yoga pants and $50 soccer shoes for her 9 y/o daughter. Since they don't want me, I don't want them.

We have both in our parish and I much prefer Academy to Dicks. Much better pricing and selection.

I don't make a difference to their bottom line but I won't ever shop there again out of pure principle

yep, went to dick's yesterday for the first time in my life.

i went just to walk around and kill time waiting on a friend to get off work at the store next to it. the entire fishing dept consisted of half of one isle. i have seen larger fishing depts at a quicky mart on the side of the road

this was a pretty big store but i was only one there other then the employees and the old man relocating stuff on the shelves said that was pretty much normal and he never saw the place crowded with customers.

I liked their store in Lafayette. They have a nicer line of hunting apparel than Academy, like Cabelas. More expense than Academy, yes. The one in Lafayette also has a nice fishing department, but Academy has most of the same stuff and more local items.

I just don’t like corporate America electing our politicians and changing our laws. This should be illegal.

It's been a few years since I worked there, but this is mostly correct. Even back in 2015, they were opening up softlines only test stores. Omni-channel/e-commerce is vital to the life of big box retailers now, and you can't make that system work with hardlines merchandise. No one is going to pay for you to ship an 80 Lb deer stand with maybe a 20% margin across the country.

They desperately want to get out of the exercise, gun/ammo, and most importantly the golf business. All 3 are low margin departments with huge operational challenges (inventory needs, shipping needs, panic buy/sell, price fluctuation). Think about how many more baseball bats and hoodies you can fit on an X-mas semi when it doesn't have 45 gun safes on it.

Future of the company is apparel, footwear, youth sports accessories, fishing tackle, and kayaks. The have major issues in a few of these areas, but nothing like the aforementioned departments.

You and I do not see eye to eye politically.

As for rights that you state about gay marriage, exactly where is that expressly written in the constitution?

The 14th amendment, according to the Supreme Court. End of story.

I haven’t been to a Dicks store or visited their website since they bent us over on the firearms issue!

The Supreme court ruled it as a constitutional right, ask them.

Politically I am about as conservative as one can get.

I also think that if I am going to squeal about the second I may should support all the rights
Guaranteed.

A whole lot off Second supporters love it, but sure hate the Muslims, Mexicans and gays.
