Never fished Delacroix and might trailer from BSL Saturday. 22 foot bay boat can float in about 16 inches but 2 feet is as shallow as I like to run in unfamiliar water. From a map standpoint it looks easy to navigate from Sweeteater. I’m not trying to go crazy fishing interior ponds just run the river south toward Black Bay and poke in to the marsh here and there our first time. Does the grass thin out the further south you go or is Lake Campo grassy? Looking to catch reds mainly but trout or bass is a bonus. Areas I see I’m interested in would be Lake John, Petain Lagoon, Lake Campo, etc...

Anything in particular I should know about the river, sweeteater marina, or the marsh right off the river?

Alot of grass in the twin pipeline. You can do pretty well with reds in the ponds off of there.

I’m pretty confident I can find fish as long as I’m not spending all day getting unstuck. Im inclined to run a while south just to get away from the crowd. If I was looking for the twin pipeline on google earth, what’s that near?

Stay in main bayous. If you don't know how to run delacroix you could wind up on mud flat and sleeping in the marsh

The water has been real low with all the west winds. I'd take somebody that knows the area. Otherwise proceed slowly and follow the crab traps if in doubt.

Pipeline runs from lake quatro Caballo to oak river. If its real low stay out though. I also do pretty well in rat bayou which is east of lake quatro

Last summer I spent 3 hours on the shallowest part of drum Bayou (east Biloxi marsh) on low tide waiting for the tide to come up. It was in the only stretch of that Bayou I haven’t trolled through. Had a .5 tide range. You want to talk about sweating it out....

We used to catch a lot of reds in Petain Lagoon till one of the hurricanes (Katrina or Gustavo) changed it. It’s shallow and nearly always dirty these days. Head a little further down to Lake Robin. Or hit areas to the right of the bayou.

I have my boat in Hopedale and spent the last couple of weekends on wild goose chases going as far out as Christmas Camp...

caught one rat red

On one of the days it was muddy and low water

This past Sunday the water was beautiful and just a little low.

I used to catch reds out there but wondering if it's the low water or what that's handing my arse to me. I want to catch some damn reds.

We got a dozen specks in Eloi on Sunday to save face but it was picking through schools to get ones we could keep.

Maybe I'll try Lake Robin this weekend..

Caught a limit in and around Reggio the other day. Find good, moving water, that may be the most important part right now. We caught off points and the grass edges. Caught a few bass too.

Wic and them whupped on them the other day too. Reds and bass...

Petain is very shallow in spots. Went to Lake John, and you can fish it by the twin pipeline, but there is a lot of grass. Four Horse, Lake Campo, etc. are fine. There is a lot of river water in the area; the trout are not there. Fish Grand lake near Orange Bayou for reds.

Every time Ive tried that it didnt go so hot..and the trashpile barge.

It was nice enough to try that on Sunday but started catching at the mouth of the bayou where it meets the bay. Caught a few out by the camp out there too.

The 20,345 crab traps in the Delacroix area really do aid in navigation. Go slow until you can verify that a canal/bay is navigable. Most of the shallows will be covered with grass (a little wind is helpful in showing where they are at as well) It can get shallow very quickly.

Preach brotha. It’s almost easier at times to take the mudboat instead of the bay boat bc I don’t have to avoid the minefield as much lol

That's why I bought a Shoalwater Cat..floats in 4",,can run in 6. Lots of old ponds and untouched canals that I can fish,,as said above which is correct, follow the crab traps, they are usually in the deepest water.
