I promise I wasn’t trying to be a smart as. I really think you should get the vehicle legal and be done with it.

You can get a spray product from Autozone that will remove the tint adhesive residue.

I have no idea why everyone on this board is so against tint. I have had illegal tint for years and I pass every single time. It isnt hard, just give them some extra money. Works every time. For all you saying that you are gonna get a ticket and crap that is so far from the truth. Not a single cop cares about tint except for the State Police. I have ceramic 5% tint on my entire windshield and double 5% over 18% ceramic on all my side windows and back glass. Never been pulled over and had it for a year. You idiots can keep your burning hot interiors during this summer because you are afraid of a non-moving violation ticket.

Why? I've never understood this law. This is coming from someone with zero aftermarket window tint on any car in my family.

ETA: was so glad when MS got rid of those dumbarse inspection stickers. Such a money grab.

People that sold it to ya'll should have thrown in a pair of these.

They're the same ones worn by high school Navy Seal Commanders.

It takes 10 min to take it off. And it's not about the inspection sticker it's about giving the cops a reason to pull your son over.

Take it off.

He’s right. Your son will be a sitting duck if they want to mess with him.

If that's true, the math tells us you have 0% light transmission on all sides and your rear glass. So it'd be like looking through a sheet of plywood. Maybe you're just unable to see the flashing lights behind you trying to pull you over

I would settle one that could adhere to my window.

4 door truck with 5% on back window and doors, 15% on front windows, and a strip 10” down my windshield and I got a sticker 3 months ago. Never said a word about my tint

Friend has 35% on his entire windshield and never has a problem with getting a sticker.

Tint has been illegal on all my vehicles since 1996 and never failed an inspection yet (knock on wood)

We I had a mini truck / low rider (late 90’s ) I had triple 5% on all my windows and 15” strip on my windshield and could see out just fine but looking in you couldn’t see shite.

Had a state trooper (no ticket was my cousin) put his maglite against my windows and no light penetrated.

Came out to .05 (yes less than 1%) when he put his tint tester on my window and I never got a ticket in that truck and back then state troopers in north LA was asses about tint

Nothing on the windshield lower than the AS1 mark.

This is a common misconception. The legal limit is nothing lower than 5 inches from the top of the windshield.

But most stations don't know or care anyway.

The AS1 mark does mean that is the lowest point the glass can be darker than clear, but if it's lower than 5 inches, some are, then the state of Louisiana says you can't go below 5 inches.

So technically it's 5 inches or the AS1 line, whatever comes first.

Thanks, we are in East Baton Rouge Parish. Will probably remove the tint on the front driver and passenger windows. It’s so damn dark. I don’t know why anyone would want their windows to be that dark in the first place. Like I said we bought the truck yesterday from someone in Mississippi... it was a previously owned vehicle that we got at a dealership. I was just curious about leniency at different inspection places.

Yeh I bought a used truck that already had the front windows matched to whatever the back windows on f150s are factory, and a huge arse brow on the front. Even that is darker than I'd like at basically every time except high noon on a blue bird day. At night, it's awful. Some people tint the entire front windshield idk why you would do that but to each their own. I just don't feel like messing with it, but the first ticket ill take it off.

Also: I've heard cops in south LA will take a razor and put a big X on every illegal tinted window so you either have to fix it, or they can see it later and pull you over again. However, in CenLa I've known of many people getting tint tickets and driving off and paying the ticket and never fixing it. Also, I know that basically every time around here a speeding ticket gets "fixed" it gets bumped to a tint ticket.

Please learn how tint works before you comment such ignorance. I can see perfectly fine during the day, and at night I just have to roll down my windows. Just because the math equals 0% doesnt mean that 0% light gets in. I dont have shitty Walmart or Autozone tint from 20 years ago. This is high quality, professionally done tint.

So at nighttime your windows became useless

I had 5% on my truck all around in high school and you couldn’t see shite at night when backing up without rolling down the windows

Mine is illegal but not crazy dark...over the limit though. Sun really bothers my eyes even with dark glasses on so no tint is not an option. Legal tint might as well be no tint.

I'll probably jinx myself by posting this but...I've had illegal tint on my vehicles for 15 years now and never received a ticket. My wife has for the last 5 and no ticket. Both of us have been rolling with no inspection sticker for the last 3 years or so. No ticket. I'm not sure how much an inspection sticker ticket costs, but I assume it will probably balance out with the cost of not paying for a sticker on two vehicles for the last 3 years if one of us does get one.

Maybe the OP should tell his son that if the boys in blue decide to pull him over because of the tint, they might then smell the weed that "his buddy" had been enjoying and things could get a bit dicey.
