The dna from the CWD deer was tested against Ms River delta deer dna. They matched, so the theory is that the deer is local to the delta and not imported. They do not claim to know exactly where the deer came from, just that it was local, at least according to this article.

This, more recent article doesn't mention Louisiana, but it does mention High fences, and deer from Texas.

Wildlife Department receives more CWD test results
Brian Broom, Clarion Ledger Published 12:34 p.m. CT March 13, 2018

Department continues to monitor Lamar County near illegal enclosure...

quote:

...The department also continues to monitor an area near Purvis where an illegal enclosure was breached by a tornado in 2017, allowing illegally imported deer from Texas, a CWD-positive state, to escape.

"The only thing we had from down there were hunter-harvested samples," Walsh said. "Those samples came in non-detected. We're still collecting diseased deer calls and roadkill from there."

Wildlife officials meet Warren County hunters, residents concerned over chronic wasting disease

Monday, March 19th 2018, 10:46 pm CDT

On Monday, Wildlife officials met with hunters and residents in Warren County who are concerned and confused over Chronic Wasting Disease. The meeting came after an infected deer was found in Issaquena County last month, marking the first time the disease has ever been documented in Mississippi.

“Exactly how bad is it, how widespread is it and does it affect humans?” asked a Vicksburg resident.

Hundreds of people with concerns filled the convention center in Vicksburg to hear about chronic wasting disease and to find out if the deer population is healthy. CWD is fatal in deer and wildlife officials say there is no vaccine or cure.

“I am concerned about future for my grand-kids, nieces and nephews as for as fishing and hunting; and how it is going to affect them,” said a Warren County resident. ...

That DNA would not be any different if the deer was from across the river in Louisiana or Arkansas either. It’s not like it has a license plate saying it’s from vicksburg.

This is nothing more than Mississippi people trying to deflect the problem to Louisiana.

And I'm not a geneticist but i am calling bullshite on being able to tell which side of the river a deer came from

+1

DNA testing showed the deer was native and not imported from another area of the country. Any claims more specific than that are bullshite.

It doesn’t make sense. The CWD area in Arkansas is 300 miles away.
The info you were given is incorrect. The danger is that the deer do swim the river.

Concentrating animal populations makes diseases much easier to spread.

High fence didn’t start the fire but they aren’t helping with the shady deer shipping

Didn’t make a lot of sense to me either unless it is different herd or something. I think they are just saying that as a possibly scenerio

I don't think anyone will genuinely care that you're involved in an alternative lifestyle. However coming out in a cwd thread on the OB is a bit of odd place to do it.
