And don't waste money on stump grinding.
1. Leave a flat stump about 2 ft high (but level)
2. Cut at least 4 slots in it like a Swedish torch (should have at least 8 "pie slices").
3. Build a fire on top of the stump
It will burn the stump in a few days. It will continue burning underground for a week, eliminating roots and all.
You'll be left with a hole in the ground to fill with dirt and sod over.

I don't think you have to worry about the OP climbing any trees with a chainsaw
I hope not. If the OP feels more comfortable hiring someone and has no experience cutting trees call someone if you wish. I don't like to pay people to do things I am capable of doing myself but I was raised in a different time and place than most of you so I certainly understand.

Very true. Coastie knows what he is talking about.

I don't like paying people to do anything.

Wow, it's sad that we have people in the world this dumb.

some hood rat trying to pull over a tree with his Cutlass

Dan & Coastie were trying to pull a tree down with a car. Thankfully the tree was stronger that the chain or that could have gotten ugly. And that car impressed me

The only thing that would have been better was if the limb had broke and fell on all of them...

"Pot Lick" grew up in Amite Co. near East Fork and he wouldn't need to pull on that tree. Place wherever you wanted it!!!

I love that a child out of the frame, presumably ~10 y/o Nick, nonchalantly says, "Chain snapped..."
I hope the free lance arborists were fricked up and/or trying to make a video for Tosh.O
What the hell were those guys thinking?

If the darn tree fell or the branch it would have crushed the car

Got to admit, I'm with Dan and costie on this one. I have brought down many trees in similar fashion and all landed safely exactly where I intended them to land.
That tree looks much farther than 15-25 ft from the house.
