And state your place of origin please.
Crappy - Georgia
Sacalait - Louisiana for most of you, but curious about the others.
Bonus question- when using the plural form, do you stay singular as in 10 crappie or do you add the S on the end, as in crappies?

Crappie - Texas and no plural

Have lived in Missouri and Arkansas. Both residents of those states call them Croppie.
Grew up in Central Louisiana where we called them White Perch.
Prefer calling them Sac-a-lait because I hate hearing them called Crappie or Croppie.
To pluralize, it's called a "Mess".
Along these lines, I also will say Pouldou instead of Coot.

I think it should be Crappie but folks don’t want to say that they caught a slew of shite and that you should help them eat it.
I really think that’s where croppie came from.

We call them specks, short for speckled perch, here in FL.

Specks in Louisiana are Speckled Trout.
Specks in Arkansas are Speckle Belly Geese.

Almost had a fist fight at lunch one time over some baws who couldn't agree on what to call this fish.

My dad grew up in south Alabama and I’ve only ever heard him call them croppie
North Alabama and north MS is the same.

Essentially all of the South call them "Croppie" except Louisiana.
Anyone that calls them "Crap-ee" is a Yankee.

It is White Perch in NE LA. Not sure where the cutoff is on where they officially become White Perch in LA but I am going to say Alec.
Poor fish has more names than a Ling/Cobia/Lemonfish.
