I was actually looking at grabbing another pair of Costas the other day because my Maui’s were stolen. I didn’t buy them because the pair I wanted now only have a 2 year warranty.

Count me in the Smith camp. My glass lense Dolans are nearly 5 years old now, and someone will have to pry them from my cold dead hands.

The new Italian made Smith glasses aren't as good as the older ones.

My vote is for RCI

Seems like they are not fixing frames with rubber issues anymore. Tried to send a pair in just recently because rubber fell off and got denied. I had no issues with the previous 3 or 4 times.

False.. just got 2 BRAND NEW PAIR due to rubber issues. One i dropped n woods and squirrel chewed all in rubber, shades was 4 yrs old, and the other the rubber was almost all worn off on legs, had this pair for 8 years

Costa has updated their repair policy effective 4/1/20. It's on their site.

When was this warranty claim?

About 5 years ago. Glasses were about 12 years old...and I even had the receipt LOL...still do.....

I had a second almost identical issue on another pair that was about 8 years old 2 years ago....took a header in the South Fork of the Snake and somehow cracked a lens...no good....but I did also get those replaced for free but I ain't proud of how I did it....If I told someone I'd warranty something unconditionally for life I would do just that....LL Bean does it....Buck and Uncle Henry does it, Uncle Henry gurantees against loss if you have a receipt LOL.....

Well I submitted my warranty claim last night and uploaded the pics the form requested. Got approval within a couple hours with a prepaid shipping label to GA. It looks like they're not charging the 12.95 that Costa used to.

Have had Costas, MJs, and Smiths.
MJs were far better than Costas in clarity to me, and Smith Chromapops just as good as MJ and cheaper.
Team Smith for now

Yep. It’s true. My brother forwarded me the link the other day.

I’ll wear mine until they fall apart. Then off to something else I suppose.

My MJs are like high definition compared to my Costas. I have a pair of each in Rx, I wear the Costas for fishing because the smoke lenses on the MJ are too dark for low light conditions and drive with the MJ to read signs at a distance. Will say, for benefit of the doubt, the clarity in my Costas may be effected by the progressive prescript lens because the MJ are true bifocals.

Yep, I thought the same, and mine were non-Rx
Not to say the Costas were bad, as they were not.

I have a pair of the "Dockside" Chromapop lenses and they popped out in the water. I have to send mine back. The lenses are nice but they fell out really easily and wasn't able to find them in murky water.

I got my first pair CDM in about 1992. Glass lenses, Euro frame. I shelved them many years ago and recently (2 years ago) found them in my garage. The frames seemed to shrink and the lenses were vulnerable to falling out. I had 2 other pairs that needed repairs so I sent the Euro's in too. They replaced them with style of my choice up to $200. Same on one of the other units I sent in that had been discontinued. I just bought my wife a new pair in January not knowing about the merger and possible warranty issue. I will say that all the pairs I have owned since day one have diminished in quality through the years. I personally have 3 pair, my son 2 pair, wife 2 pair. And I have owned several other pairs through the years. But if the warranty info being told here is accurate; I will never buy another pair. I remember the replacement policy on those Euro's in 92: they would literally replace them at no charge one time for accidental loss (needed original receipt). Also, I agree that the glass lenses are the only way to go. The plastic lenses were always trashed after the slightest scuff. Times have changed.

Not Maui Jim because they’re still a privately held company, just Costa Del Mar! See, it seems to be that Costa Del Mar had been owned as a wholly owned subsidiary of Essilor. Essilor International S.A. is a French-based international ophthalmic optics company that designs, manufactures and markets lenses to correct or protect eyesight. In January 2017, Essilor announced a merger with Italian eyewear giant Luxottica. On October 1, 2018, the new holding company EssilorLuxottica was born, resulting in combined market capitalization of approximately €57 billion.
