Coon hound/Walker mix?

Can’t get the photo to post from Imgur so link only provided.

If you know dogs, is this a coon hound/Walker mix or even Red Bone mixed in as well?

Friend got Ollie from a shelter, he is 1.5 years old and he is still scared to get up and walk around in his house even after a month. He has to physically lift him to his feet with his harness, walk him by lifting and pushing Ollie to the door to get him outside, and he will only sit with his back up against the house. He won’t walk around the yard like a dog would normally do.

Friend fears he was kept in a crate, possibly abused, since all he will do is sit in his spot in the house with his back against a wall. He will creep to get his food and water though and get right back to sitting all day.

Friend can pet him, talk gently to him, and hand him a snack but Ollie will only sit there. Friend is now worried about muscle atrophy.

Any suggestions?

Just need to be patient and get the pup to where he trust them.

Doesn't look like Coon Hound or a Walker to me.

I think of this when I think Walker or Mix .

Looks more like a fox hound.

we adopted a bloodhound of about the same age that had been kept in a crate in a small apartment. She wasn’t physically or verbally abused but many hound breeds are super sensitive…they get their feelings hurt is the best way to put it and getting them to trust again afterwards can be tough.

Happy wouldn’t come inside the house for several days after we got her, she just hovered in the yard or slunk around. It took quite a while before she trusted me to approach much less take her in. But after that she was my girl and I was her person

The other thing about a sensitive dog in a shelter is the constant noisy barking. Some dogs can just about be driven insane by it and they just shut down

looks like he is just traumatized by the shelter stay and doesn’t know what to do…give it time

If it is a coon hound mix. Be ready for barking. A walker wants to just run. I had red nose. Be ready for a cold trail

If you are hunting with dog, look at black mouth cur.

Is there anyway your friend could get someone with a friendly dog to come visit Ollie. Might help him come out of his shell a little bit.

that is an excellent idea. A lab or golden retriever would be ideal. Take them out to the yard and see if Ollie will perk up
