I noticed that part of the application asks for any mental health issues the applicant may have seen a doctor for.

Anyone here have experience with this?

Say the applicant has visited a doc about anxiety/ADHD-- would this void the application?

You don't need a license when there is an evacuation order present in the State

Will need a statement from Dr prescribing rx. If in my bosses case the dr wouldn’t submit statememt, you can reapply without those questions marked yes and they will issue. Boss is bat shite crazy and in no way should carry but he found a work around. Guy walked into his house a couple months ago and saw his mirror image and killed it.

Psychiatric associations recommend their members not to sign off on CCP application mainly due to potential liabilities.

Don't they do a search into your health record though?

I went to the ccw class. But after looking at the application form, I think I will forget about it. 30 day stay in drug treatment back in the 80's, plus a couple of divorces. Too many things to track down. They sure don't make it easy.

I take medicine for depression and was able to get mine in both Louisiana and now Tennessee. In Louisiana I had to go to my therapist and talk with him and get him to sign off on a form so I could get the permit.

Several people told me to doc-shop and just find a doctor to throw a couple bucks to and they would sign it, but I wouldn't recommend that.

To answer your question, it should not void your application. I don't know your situation, but unless you're extremely suicidal or have some other issues, it shouldn't be a problem.

ETA: OP if you have trouble, I can give you the name of my doctor in BR. You would still have to get an appointment and go in and chat with him, but he's a cool guy. As I said, unless you have serious issues that legitimately should prohibit you from being able to carry, it would not be an issue.

HIPPA laws prohibit sharing health information without consent and he didn’t want them to know. Telling is his primary care doc straight out refused to sign due to history.
Think he shot mirror center mass twice.

I'll try my doc first, but yeah if you could pass me his name that would be awesome.

Dr. Larry Warner at Collaborative Minds. He has moved offices a few times but he is off of Bluebonnet now.

If you ever took an anti depressant, anxiolytic or antipsychotic medication you have to get a doctor sign off every time you reapply for your CHP. Doesn't matter if you took it once, you are suppose to report. It is also getting harder and harder to get a doctor to do this for you, one the doctors organizations are anti gun, second they recommend that doctors not sign off due to liability and now hospital systems are prohibiting their doctors from filling out the forms. On my Oschner paperwork now it has a big notice about not letting their doctors do a host of things like evaluate for disability, and one of them is to fill out paperwork for a gun permit of any kind.

Unless you have been committed against your will or made a legal claim of mental deficiency, there's no where for them to check. There is no centralized "permanent record" of you health. This is why self-reporting is a pointless waste of paper.

Couldn’t they at least check your medical records through your current health insurance and ask about prior health insurance providers? I would think that info with your SS# and they could at least get their hands on a fair amount of prior records.

See my earlier post regarding hippa laws (state can’t usurp federal laws).

An insurance company can't release anything to anyone but a medical facility as far as I understand. "Medical records" have to come straight from your doctor(s).

Also, State Police does not have the man power to conduct such an extensive, non-automated, search on each applicant. And picking a random selection to do so, would lead to an incredible amount of litigation.
