Porcupine is pretty good table fair. Pound a nail through a paw and skin from the feet down turning the skin inside out to protect yourself from the quills.

Not yet this trip, but close by.

How the shite did you convince the porcupine to let you pick him up?
We actually coaxed it onto a stick, kinda hanging sloth-style, then transferred to arm. But after it chilled out we were able to just slide a hand under the belly and pick it up and it was okay with that.

You're like the OB's very own Steve Irwin!
"look at that lion! i'm gonna hop out of my car and get a closer look!"

You and Steve Irwin would have been best buds.

Oh... and look over here... a beautiful porcupine. Look at those razor sharp barbed quills. Let's pick it up, shall we?

That video was insane. You are insane. Very Cool Critters.
Lived in the Sierra Nevada Mtns near Bridgeport. Had a momma cat and her year old off spring start killing the neighbors goats. Game Warden came out and set a trap. Gave me and the neighbors a nuisance game permit. Trapped the two young ones the next day. Game warden took them to an another location. Momma came looking for her kids. And she wasn’t very happy. She killed the neighbors Queensland. And ran the wife into the house. She called me. I stepped out the door. Spotted the cat laying down where the game warden put the trap. When she saw me, she let out a growl and hissed at me. I shot her. She leaped about 25’ into the air. Landed on her feet and took off. She went about 30 yards and piled up. Called the game warden and he took her to have her autopsied.
Those are some REALLY bad dudes. You would be lucky to survive an attack. How’s your insurance?

That's a wee bit closer than mine.
Many moons ago I was going through Little White Horse Canyon it's a well known Utah slot canyon.
stock photo - for effect
And as it widened a bit I spied two young bighorn. Pretty cool but immediately knew they don't usually hang around for people. They were to my right and on the left about twenty feet up was a young mountain lion. Mexican stand off ensued. As I'm thinking this day pack needs to be between him and me.
Couple of long looks and the Bighorn start a slow straight up and the mountain lions backs up and thinks a bit before leaving. Me, I'm having a meaningful discussion with the higher power before slowly pulling my back pack on.

My buddies also found this lil guy by the cuts right before I got here. It was alone, full of fleas, one eye crusted shut. Cleaned it up and we transferred it over to an animal rescue facility. Ringtails are the cutest things ever. I walked through the door and said, “I’ll give you $1,000 for that thing right now.”

Added a baby javelina and a baby vulture to the mix. West Texas is a virtual petting zoo.
