I have had a mesa 300wm for 3 seasons or so, have shot several boxes of ammo through it and no issues. It’s a sub moa gun with two different types of ammo haven’t really tried to tweak it any. I have a buddy who has had a ridgline 6.5 for 6-7 years at least and a ridgline FFt for 3 or so and I have shot both of them and they are both shooters with no issues.
I read all the stuff on the forums but my limited experience is positive.

I don't own one and cannot provide insight. But if you are looking for a boutique type rifle that seekins Havak PH3 is a great looking rig with a great reputation.

I can provide insight. Ive got one in 6mm Creed and it's the most accurate rifle ive ever owned. Ive owned their PH2 and several Bergara's as well as own several Tikka's currently. IMHO the Seekins is the most rifle for the money when you consider what you're getting. Even better is for $500 you can order barrels and swap them yourself at home. It's a true switch barrel set up.

Man that getup is fully 100% cool kuiu wearing kid approved

I've never shot one but Seekins does tend to get much better press than christensen does and if I had to buy a boutique rifle, it'd be one of those.

yeah tell me bout it. I bought that tripod when my oldest girl started hunting to help her and now I’ve started using the sucker on places I can shoot over a couple 100 yards or so. It’s handier than I thought for us old folks lol

No. Don't be that guy. I have a Tikka t3 Tupperware and I rather my custom Remington 700s. But the tikka is a nice rifle. Ruger has a ways to go be on tikka level rifles.

I own a Ridgeline Ti I purchased in 2021. My hunting buddy shot mine when I was sighting it in and bought one also.

It’s exceptionally accurate. It loves cheap Norma whitetail ammo, Barnes TTSX, and Federal Terminal Ascent. I’m not a great shot but it cuts holes at 100 yards and has killed deer out to 250 and an elk at 490.

If I could only have one rifle, that would be it. The whole rig, fully loaded with ammo is under 9 lbs. not bad for a .300 Win Mag.

That said, it’s not perfect. The trigger is really good, but there are better ones. The stock is pretty good, but a lot of folks upgrade. I’ve gotten used to mine like it is, so I have no reason to change any of it.

I know they are good rifles they just feel so cheap in hand. Plus I like a slightly heavier rifle and they are feather light

I love mine. Super light weight and a good shooter.

I heard they were hit or miss so I never really was interested in them and was looking for a short barrel .308 20 inches or shorter for a spare scope I had laying around from accidental double order. Called my buddy who works at Lipseys to ask about a Bergara for about $1600 and he said by my gun for $2000. He ended up selling it to me for the $1600 I was going to pay for the Bergara and verified it shot great so I said why not.

It’s been a great gun and almost all I ever use now.

Is that the Mesa? What caliber and barrel length? I'm a little apprehensive to go w/ a 20" barrel (going with 6.5 PRC). I've read you lose considerable velocity going down to 20". Ideally I'd like a 22" since I'll be using a suppressor.

Ridgeline FFT .308 with a 16 inch barrel.

I’ve got a few custom APR rifles in 25/06, 6.5 PRC and 6.5 Creed that have 22 to 24 inch barrels and will just run a 6 inch can to help with the length. Still not ideal but at least I will use them again.

Don't be. I'd make it 18" if it was always going to have a muffler on the end. You will lose a good bit of speed but it only matters if you're going to shoot game far enough for it to come into play, which is going to be past 500 yards even with a 16" barrel on a 6.5 PRC.

In general as long as the bullet is over 2000 fps at impact it's going to work really well, and some of the newer stuff like ELDX bullets work down to 1800fps or less. Again, unless you're shooting game at true mid to long range (500+) OR using mono copper bullets it won't matter. A .223 with a 16" barrel will hold enough speed out to 450+ yards. A 6.5 PRC with a 20" barrel is going to hold it way past that.

pay close attention to the responses here. I'm not saying you can't get a bad one, but notice all but one person that has responded here that owns a Christensen really likes them and finds them to be great shooting guns.

I've found this to be the case several times over. I see bad shite written about them by people that never had one, but those that actually do own them (real people, not some guy on the internet you don't know) like them.

Figure out what bullet you want to hunt with, figure out what the minimum impact speed for that bullet is, and work backwards from there to figure out what the minimum barrel length is for the range you want to be able to shoot game at. Every time I've done that exercise the resulting barrel length is shorter than I expected. For instance with a .338 win mag, typically wearing a 26" barrel, can push a 250gr accubond to 2400 fps conservatively (30fps loss per inch) from a 16" barrel. That bullet conservatively needs 1800 fps to work well, and it falls below that speed at ~ 430 yards and if you're an energy dude, it still has 1800 ft lbs at that range with those numbers.

So that's a pretty extreme example (belted magnum on the minimum legal barrel) and would still be very much elk-rated by anybody's definition at 400 yards. I'd absolutely do a 20" barrel to start with for a 6.5 PRC and maybe even cut it back further than that after trying it for a while. It's easy to take 2 more inches off but adding 2 inches requires a new barrel.

I have a .308 Ridgeline and was skeptical about it but so far has been a great rifle. It’s super light weight and groups less than an inch at 100. I rarely shoot more than 200 yards so that’s plenty good for me
