Has anyone been on a Marlin charter there? I am looking to go late August and it's mind-blowing how many charters they offer. I know it's hot in Cabo for marlins and billfish.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

I go every October to fish the Bisbee's on this boat. The captain and deckhand are both good guys. The owner is a friend of mine from New Orleans.

Sorry for not researching beforehand. I actually posted this in the OT for some odd reason and it got moved to hear. Total brain fart.

Thanks for the link. Looks like I was a couple days too late.

I've used Redrum 5 times. There was only 1 day that the fishing was good. There was an offshore storm 2 days prior to the trip. All of their boats know where the fish are.

Which boat did you use if you don't mind me asking? It will just be 2 of use, but I am not going on a small boat. I was looking at 19's or sniper

A lot of people are going to say RedRum, I've never personally used them, but they have a good rep. This is the boat we were on when we went for Marlin University in 2014. Chupacabra

It's a beautiful boat and Capt. Clay Hensley is a Pelagic Pro Team member. They will put you on fish and treat you right.

Here's the video I made from the trip

When I've gone with just my wife, we've gone on the TantRum. It's a 28' Californian and with 2 fighting chairs.

RedRum without a doubt. I chartered "19's toy" last year, it was one of the nicest boats leaving the harbor that morning, out of atleast 100 boats. I also chartered Rum Runnin, a smaller boat, super clean and put us on the fish. Caught Marlin on both trips. Both are Redrum boats.

I'm going to guess Dave Ferrell was there running the show for Marlin U?

Great friend and he knows his stuff about Marlin......the shows we have him in on are always lively and full of callers. I've been twice with him......awesome experience

Yes sir, as well as Peter B. Wright. I'm going to Cap Cana in a couple weeks for the session there and I can not wait. The knowledge these guys have, especially for someone fairly new to Billfishing, is invaluable. Not to mention Dave is hysterical and Capt. Peter has a ton of great stories. I'd recommend a Marlin U trip to anyone. They aren't necessarily the cheapest trips, but when you factor in 4-5 full days of fishing, lodging, and meals, it's way cheaper than trying to do it on your own and WAYYY cheaper than buying/owning a boat

I went a few summers ago with RedRum charters. It was a cool experience. caught one black marlin and a huge thresher shark, but that is just a slow slow kind of fishing. I never go offshore so i took some seasickness medicine and literally passed out from the time we left the dock, woke up to reel in a marlin, then passed back out till we got back. don't think the offshore thing is for me

Sorry to dig this thread up, going to Cabo for my honeymoon end of August-early September. Anyone have experience with Fish On? Between them and Redrum, both highly reviewed on TA, Fish On is a little cheaper.
