Hundreds. Have caught more of them this season than any other fish. Large populations on Indian Creek and Kincaid.

Buddy of mine caught one in Allatoona. It was much bigger and had some mean looking teeth.

I've always called them jackfish.......they literally eat anything. Usually they are 15 inches or so.

I've caught a few, while fishing "up north" (Lake Chicot).

But I've never caught one that little.

I caught this one in Lake Bouef. I don't think they are very common around this area.

Most impoundments that were built by damming upland streams are going to have them.

I know a place we can go right now and catch one in less than 10 casts on a yellow and black snagless sally (if anyone else here knows what that is).

Caught one in a cove off of Kentucky Lake many years ago on a Rebel Deep Wee R fished up against a sheer drop cliff that went deep into the lake. I think I was 12 or 13 years old.

I remember it being around 6 lbs. and we threw it back.

We got back to the dock and I looked at the Kentucky fishing records up on the wall, and the one I caught would have been the state record. Frick.

I grew up in BR, never saw one until I moved to Alexandria. They are pretty prevalent in all the impoundments around here.

Used to catch them all the time on Kincaid.

My mom would use them in a gumbo. Also, she would boil them, pick the meat off the bones, make meatballs and fry them, then make soup with the meatballs.

Pretty damn tasty.
