Camping coffee method

What is your choice for good coffee while camping. No generator, no power. I like cowboy coffee, pour over into a cup, and french press (hate cleaning the french press though). Looking at an aeropress vacuum bottle and other options.

Bring water barely to boil. Add coffee grounds. Turn off fire from propane burner (or remove off campfire). Let sit for 3/4 minutes then strain through mesh sieve into a cup.

Used to have an vacuum insulated French press and percolator both made good coffee but were a PITA to clean.

my old drip pot does just fine and makes some of the best coffee I ever had...
course it's always better over a campfire...

Old coffee maker. Put coffee in the filter like normal. heat water on fire or stove and slowly pour over coffee, let it drip into pot.

I have a couple of perculators , but using the paper filter and the old coffee maker, ends up with less grounds in the coffee. so I use that.
They use to sell the coffee rings, where the coffee was packed inside a ring shaped filter, just for perculators, but I haven't seen that in a long time, that's what I use to use.

Have a couple of old aluminum, one stainless steel percolators that work well over camp fire. At deer camp we use an old granite ware coffee pot. Just throw the grounds in the water and let it rip. Shut it down and throw a cold, flat, smooth, river rock in to settle the grounds. It'll put hair on your chest.

Jetboil and dark timber packs, you’re welcome from all us backpack hunters out west

I'm camping I'm fine with just using instant. Not generally a Starbucks fan but their instant isn't too bad for instant coffee.

That looks interesting. I'm going to order some to try. Thanks!

We use something like this because it's easy to clean and won't break. Put coffee filter in brewing cup over big mug, add coffee grounds, pour boiling water on top.

I use the french press accessory on my jetboil.

For backpacking I use instant packets. Don’t want to discard grounds in bear country or carry out.
Camping near truck I’ve used stovetop percolators, cowboy coffee, French press, Pow Pows old drip pot he gave me.
Jet boil French press is the fastest and really easy.
Cowboy coffee over a fire is favorite. Don’t worry about straining. Just keep on hot coals and grounds sink to bottom.

quote:aeropress is insanely good coffee, really easy to make and use, and cleans up very quickly. I'm a huge fan. It's awesome for camping paired with any way to heat water. It's really nice.
