Ha yeah I mean why would you sink a boat at the dock for an insurance scam? That doesn't make any sense at all, they are just going to float that sucker or make you float it. Now, sink it in 1000 ft and it's gone.

Oh man that sucks. How the hell do you make it all the way out to the rigs without knowing the plug was not in? Did they launch and head straight for the rigs? Seems they would have had to tie off some where to get bait and ice and notice the rear sitting kinda low in the water.
Also, would they leave the boat down there or lift it back up since its next to a rig?
Dude

They would send divers experienced at 1000 ft dives to hook on and make sure it clear of the rig.

The guy that got arrested is one of my good friends. One of our mutual friends just told me the whole story. Amazing. One of the best I ever heard.

I can't go into too much detail because of the insurance, but they definitely did NOT do this for insurance. The story took 10 minutes to tell start too finish. I'm not typing out that novel. I'm out right now and can't really type footnotes. The only reason I posted is because my bud said they posted the pic on tigerdroppings and I went looking for it. I'll try to post footnotes later but it really does a disservice to the story because the details make it. Sorry for the dicktease.

Divers arent going that deep. They'd use an ROV.
