Check out First Lite's wool socks. I have a few pair and they are great. Just a side note the MEN'S KILN BOOT TOP BOTTOM is a must if you wear knee boots.

They really do make some of the best socks for outdoor activities.

I've been wearing the same 4 pairs of medium weight crew hiking socks to work for the past 7 years. they still feel like new socks.

wool is best, and use a liner if you can. Lighter socks that you won't sweat in will be better than heavier socks if it crowds your feet and they sweat.

In Alaska if we are just outdoors and not super active we all use the Mickey Mouse boots (bunny boots). If you are hiking alot your feet will sweat and you will need to replace your socks. Winter before last we had week after week of -20 degrees and it was all I wore. Never had any issues.

I've never tried them. They appear to be pretty much the same as Darn Tough without the lifetime guarantee.

I have some smart wool stuff. I like it.

Something else important, if your feet and hands are cold and your boots fit right, its because your core temp is a little too low and you're losing blood flow to your extremities. If you consistently have cold feet, you likely aren't layered up enough in your legs/upper body. Good boots/socks won't defeat low body temperature and the first thing to start getting cold is usually your feet.

as others have said wool.

i use the redhead wool socks from bass pro. they are good socks and they have a lifetime warranty. I have about 10 pair and every 3 years or so when they start to get stretched out I take them all to bass pro and swap them all out for all new pairs. Bought them all several years ago one time and just been swapping them out ever since.

well y'all have convinced me to buy a few pair to try out - so tired of crappy socks from amazon that either fall apart in 6 months or make feet sweat like crazy (in a normal desk job)

I have a pair of heat holders that are the warmest I have ever had. Got them at Academy. I get cold very easily but it's almost impossible for my feet to be cold in those. I first heard of them on another hunting forum from folks out west.

I hunt in northern VA, public land. Sometimes have long walks to the stand, so super insulated socks or boots aren't really an option because then feet sweat and freeze. Got a set of insulated boot covers last season to put on when I get in the stand and they are absolutely game changers. I hunted in the late season with wind chills below zero and my feet were the warmest part of me

Boot blankets for sure. Smartwool medium for walk in, they breath good.

The older i get the colder my feet get.

I have some and they are the most over rated merino that I own. Darn tough are my favorite but farm to feet has good ones as well, better for hiking than hunting though.

I'll grab wigwam or keen socks way before I buy another pair of smartwool, high price but walmart quality.

In 2019 in nebraska, I went to get out the truck and it said -5F on the truck. That year id finally realized rubber boots weren’t made for that kind of cold. I wore the realtree polypropylene liner socks, farm to feet cedar falls, and lacrosse 800g atlas. No problems. Liner, merino, and an 800g lace up is a pretty versatile setup. I just adjust the weight of the merino sock based on the temperature.

Liner socks, heavy merino, and put your boots on a dryer each night.

Darn Tough Vermont wool socks. Pricey but iron clad lifetime warranty and customer service are worth it.
