Ask BeHop. edit title to (paging BeHop). He and the the other ol baw (can’t remember name) do a lot of saddle hunting and I’m sure are up to date on the best harnesses and manufacturers.

ETA: I think “mylsuhat” does a lot as well

Are the rock climbing harnesses good even if hunting from a tree stand? Or is their sole purpose for saddle hunting? Just seems like it would be awkward to sit in a tree stand with the anchor point coming across your body and in front of you.

Ive been intrigued by the idea of saddle hunting, but don’t feel like i could do an all day hunt in it.

I use a rock climbing harness in my lock on. I like it so much better that the full body summit I have. Getting jackets on and off when in the stand is a breeze.

I wear a hunter safety system x-1 in warmer weather and a hunter safety system elite vest in colder weather.

It is great for bow hunting. I set it where I can lean out really far and it doesnt get in the way of clothing changes.

I switched to a rock climbing harness for bowhunting in lock ons a few years ago, I don't tend to sit in stands so its way more comfortable to me to just stand or lean. I Hunted a saddle the last 2 seasons, I can sleep in that thing. I've made many all day hunts over the last couple years, It does take some getting used to.

I do mostly saddle hunt with one and a sitdrag but switched to it when I still mostly used climbers and lock ons.

Anchor point in front of you is actually better in a lock on. It is never in the way of a shot since it is at waist level. Allows you to put on or take off clothing as someone else mentioned. Finally, in a fall it would flip you around to face the tree making it easier to get back to safety.

Hunter safety x1 harness. I also got the rope with the prussic knot to attach harness to tree with. Worth it all day. Be sure to pick it up as well

I am converting to saddle next bow season - moving from lockons.

Keeping up with bayou bow hunter on Instagram and learning through him.
