May and early June produce limits. I like late October and November, however like others said, the nasty fronts can shut down the bite for a few days.

Another shameless plug for Big Lake or the area in general is the nearshore short-rigs between Hackberry and Sabine. Probably the quickest limits I have ever caught. They start turning on in July and you can get bonus Tripletails if you lucky.
