IMO, FFP vs. SFP is a matter of personal choice based on what the shooter feels most comfortable with in the field. Dialing in, and "clicks" no longer need to be calculated manually as there are ballistic apps for cell phones and watches that calculate your dope once you enter the variables. Technology has made hunting and shooting so much easier. Rangefind your target and the ballistic app tells you scope adjustments and where to aim if using a mil-dot type scope

Video is a year old, but it's still extremely relevant. I'd take a CIF sniper's word for it over about ayone else's: Optics buyers guide from a Green Beret

Breakdown includes every type of optic, including medium and long range scopes, and price points.

His top score for 308 was a Nightforce 3.5-15x.

Figured I’d bump this. Was very torn between the Maven RS.5 and Zeiss V6 this morning but ended up going with the Zeiss V6 3-18x50 #6 reticle with BDC turret. Will post some pics Wednesday when it comes in and I get it on the rifle.

Have a Christensen Arms Burnt Bronze Ridgeline with 24” barrel in .308 coming

Been looking at this one hard myself, in 300 prc.

The Mesa is fine and looks awesome, but kind of want the wrapped barrel.

Should have edited my original post. Actually ended up going with the Mesa 22” .308. Couldn’t justify the ~$800 price difference for the Ridgeline.

That thing weighs 46 oz

The VX5HD 3-15-44 is 19oz. That is a big weight difference.

Yeah, the Mesa at $1,300 is a pretty nice looking rifle.

I suggest emailing Euro and asking them to send you a quote on their best price for whatever rifle or optic you’re looking for. Spent a hair under $1300 including tax and shipping on it and a hair over $1700 for the V6 after tax and shipping.

Jason is the real deal and has always gone above and beyond to help his customers. I just bought a SIG Kilo5 Applied Ballistics rangefinder for $475 with free shipping. Suggested retail price is $599.

Doug at Camera Land NY is another option for glass as he offers some of the best deals out there including FREE shipping and NO tax. Doug buys lots of volume straight from the manufacturer which is why he can afford to give incredible deals.

Nightforce is so far out in front in low light pickup. You need to pick one up SXS with a Swarovski and you'll see instantly. Most folks dont do a sxs they randomly go to different places and look at different scopes under different conditions.

I shot the 20” ridgeline Saturday, ended up putting a viper 4-16-44hst on it, old scope I know. I just prefer second focal plane for hunting, it grouped better with federal blue box 150s than gold medal match 168 or 175s

Son of a bitch. I came to a $2000 scope thread and left wanting a $2000 rifle.

Just popping in to say I’ve bought several tripods, heads, and optics from cameraland. I highly recommend you call them and explain what you want. They can put their hands on a lot of it and they typically talk me out of whatever I think I want for something better and cheaper. I haven’t been disappointed yet.

I’ve bought a few things from Eurooptic and also from camera land and would recommend both.

Just got an Aimpoint last week from eurooptic. Way cheaper that I had seen anywhere else.
