I believe that is correct.

Those guys are good people - I was lucky enough to get to deer hunt out there - and skeet shoot at the camp.

I thought I was a good clay bird shot until I was shown that I did not know crap compared to them. I think I was the only one that missed a clay target that afternoon.

Wham

When I was growing up, my Dad worked for IP. We leased 800 acres from IP for years and years on the South End of Wham that bordered Franklin's club. Alligator Brake was the property border between us and Franklin's with Wham Brake being on the North end. It is my understanding that the state now owns this tract of land since IP sold it.

I would absolutely SLAM the ducks out of Alligator Brake in the 90s. I'd schedule my college classes to duck hunt and made 58 to 60 morning hunts a year for several years after leaving the Library Lounge at closing time. There were many a days that I made several trips back and forth to the lease with a limit of gadwalls and mallards in tow.

I can't say that I have duck hunted a dozen times in the last 15 years. I was scheduled to make a trip to Stuttgart this weekend with a customer, but canceled on them yesterday after I heard the report of the last few days.

KA was a competitive shooter for Winchester when he was young. I was fortunate to hunt with KA, JH, TK and BM. Nothing got out of the decoys when those old men started shooting.

you are correct.
KA, JH, TK, and BM were the best to hunt with.
JH's breakfast before the hunt and some hot chocolate after the hunt. It's mallard time!

No truth to it.
All hunting at McGowan is for family & friends.
No memberships.

Public Land. On good years, you can kill birds, but you never have to pay for a lease or blind.

Didn't some big swinger(s) from Shreveport used to own this place? I had no idea it's now a "lodge".
