best overall is a place called Saltlake in NE La

Not the last 2 years. The manager/owner of the place lives down the street from me. This season, his faces have been.... . and and and and with very little

Also, the state now has all the rice right by Salt Lakes and it is part of Russell Sage WMA. Let's say it has been an adventure with those guys who have tried to hunt it.

This is a little off topic but I heard some interesting news when I was up in the delta last week. Apparently LA is in the process of buying the land north of upper ouachita and plan on connecting to Felsenthal. Plan is to put them together and will have one set of regs and you can hunt either as long as you have a license for ARK or LA. You will be able to cross state lines and hunt as long as you stay on the management area.

The club I’m joining in Arkansas has killed over 1200 ducks and they’ve said this is the worst year ever.

What about Gonsoulin's place at mouth of river? I hear they do very well down there.

Yes. It has been hunted extensively this year but it is a Charlie Foxtrot to do it. But there are ducks.

Theres a couple of good private clubs between Rayville and Swartz with flooded timber and rice fields. It always seems when others are scratching out, they are still killing green heads. Pressure from Wham and Russell Sage always seem to help.

I thought that this would be a perfect set-up for that very thing but doing a lottery would probably stretch an already thin LDW&F staff even thinner if they had to handle that too. In my opinion, this tract would be off the hook if they put in pits with a little better access.

I’ll jump in

Whoever stated McGowen Brake is correct - it might be the best spot in the state right now.

Highway 15 is falling off big time - seems more gadwalls and mallards make it over to Dave's bayou. If you don’t have teal on 15 it will make for a really boring hunt. The turnover out there is a bit mind blowing.

The old Molicy produces if you have the time and resources to get up there.

Bonita area in the fields is slacking - not the quality it once was.

Duck hunting in NELA has been trending downward the last decade. It was just 15 years ago when we passed on anything but mallards and pintail. Now, we shoot spoons and teal like there is no tomorrow.

Many of the north Monroe blue bloods make a trip or two to Oklahoma or Kansas for ducks and have given up on hunting in NELA for ducks.

No doubt it is changing times for duck hunting in Louisiana - and it ain’t for the better.

LC sucked hind tit this season, friend went and they scratched. Was told it wasn’t the first time either.
Each year I hunt less, 3 times last year and once this year. While the numbers are trending downward, they will come back once we hit equilibrium. Eventually the flat bills will fall by the wayside as will the older generation (50-60) and there will be another boom. BTW, I’m 53 and only want to hunt long enough to teach my 17 yo what not to do in the marsh.
