Please research the Remingtons, i would not touch one for a kid. Most have been recalled publicly or privately. They changed the trigger mechanism on all of mine when i bolted my sons rifle for his first solo hunt, years ago (rough as shite btw) it fired.

That was the end of him hunting with that gun. They aren’t nicknamed “kid killers” for a reason. Watch the guy in Minnesota fire one without ever touching the trigger over and over on you tube.

He killed a decent buck 1 hour later with the Ruger. (lol)

I have never seen or heard Remington nicknamed “kid killer”. Anywhere. Ever. Except on this forum, from you.

Mais nooooooooooo

Terrible choice! Get the 6.5-300 instead. It at least has SOME ammo options.

Its a really cool caliber, I just don't think there's shite for ammo out there for it. 7mm STW probably has better availability.

Are you getting a brake? If you are, and STILL are scared of the .300, than I am

Check out Sauer Rifles. I just bought a .243 Silver XT. It’s an absolutely tack driver. Mauser M18 are excellent rifles in that price range.

No brake and I thought about 6.5 but man that is bare minimum for elk.

6.5-300 WBY is no where near the same as the 6.5 creedmore

It's an excellent caliber for elk and even bigger game

I am very much aware they are not the same fellas. The fact is a 156g pill at long distance still doesn't forgive much at all.

Traditionally you'd think that 156gr bullet would be the go to for elk but many/most folks love the 127, 130, and 140s for elk.

That round is built on speed.

I have someone who I will get to handload so not too concerned about ammo availability for the 7mm. Hell WBY offer 5 load already.

I will let yall know what they say today.

There are no less than 10 aftermarket trigger brands for a 700. Takes all of about 15 minutes to change one out.

As the other poster said, never heard them called a kid killer. Keep the gun pointed in a safe direction and it isn’t an issue.

That’s what I am looking for but at this point I should probably settle for any left hand rifle.

I shoot lefty but all my rifles are righty.
Just swap out the stock for a left handed stock

I never could get comfortable working the bolt left handed since I am right handed otherwise

One of my kids is a lefty.

I need to find something for him. He is tired of his shotgun popping him in the forehead with empty hulls.

I'm thinking a BPS.

I would not shoot that one on the right. Looks like something that should be shot from a plane.

Well dont misunderstand me, I'm definitely a fan of diameter and if youre ok with the ammo situation, 7mm wby is a monster. You're talking to a guy who REALLY wanted a .375 h&h for his elk gun

I still think the 300 wby is what you should be getting.

Id be using the 156's. All 6.5s should be using 156gr ammo IMO. My 6.5x55 loves the stuff

Both animals (whitetail and pronghorn) that I have shot with the 130 Scicciro II's haven't taken a step

Starting to lean in this direction. Great value rifle and invest in some great glass.
