Yea if this dude is looking for a beefy .357 than the ruger is the winner by a long shot.
The smith beats the ruger in several ways, but ability to digest piles of full power magnums is definitely not one of them. Not saying the smith is weak by any means, it's just not as robust as the ruger.
It's debatable that the extra meat on the ruger is actually necessary or not when shooting factory ammo. You have to keep in mind that the smith was designed when .357 mag first started showing up, and the average load was stouter than it is these days. If taken care of neither one of them should "shoot out" with regular use.

Sometime in the near future I want a ruger SA in .45 LC. I had a vaquero but was an idiot and traded it.

IF I were to be shooting exclusively handloads/reloads, there is little question I would have Ruger revolvers and Sig pistols...exclusively.
Why is this again?

For people who try to make as much noise and fire as possible

No longer made, but I was once the very proud owner of a Colt King Cobra.
One of those times in life when things were tough, and sadly, The King was sent away to anothers hand...

That's a shame.
All the colt DA revolvers were works of art.
ETA: The modern ones at least

Downshift how's the Blackhawk as far as SAs go?

Colt King Cobra.
Was sometimes regarded as the strongest .357 DA made, at least in its day.
Just so everyone knows, the King Cobra does not use the same action as the Python, or any of the other 'old' Colt action revolvers.

Mine was the royal blued with King Cobra etched on the barrel. perfect accuracy (when I lined up the orange sight that is) I think I will browse for a replacement... I really did love that pistol.

It depends what you want. It's a great target shooting or hunting handgun. Very rugged and accurate.
Magnum Research makes the biggest, nastiest, and strongest single actions, but you will pay ALOT for them. You can get them in some ridiculous calibers like .45-70. They have a reputation for being extremely well built and accurate.
Freedom arms makes the Cadillac of single action revolvers. They are the best of the best. Real works of art.
There's also an asspile of SAA replicas out there, and some of them are very good. They are more difficult to shoot well due to the fixed blade sight, but they all carry very well and of course are all fun to shoot.
ETA: Alright I think I got it right this time

I want it for targeting and in the woods really. Plus a single action revolver is just badass.

Or the Magnum Research 45-70

My dumb arse brother had a Colt Python AND a Colt Diamondback that he had to sell off after the divorce. He also had a Colt Commander in .45ACP, a heavy barrel Ruger .22 pistol, a Mini-14 and wait for it he had a pre-ban HK model 91.......
fricking bitch made him sell off all of that shite. I was too broke at the time to buy any piece

Can't beat a blackhawk. Used new models can be had for cheap. I bought mine for $300.
